What do people think about gettin Keyshawn back? I think that might be a move for the front office to consider making?

Trading future picks is for suckers and Dan Snyder.

    Redundent...

Also, I don't think we should rule out trading draft picks until we know just how high a pick we would need.

Would love to have Keyshawn back, and add OL if a good guard or tackle is cut in June

That's how Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato began the long process of making the Redskins irrelevant.

First you'll only trade second day picks to get that guy you *need* now.

    Then only 3rd rounders.

Then you find yourself with a 1st round pick and nothing until the 5th round.

And all to acquire players that other teams are actively trying to ditch for one reason or another. It takes 53 players to win in the NFL. One stopgap at the expense of longterm flexibility hurts the effort of assembling those players. Multiple stabs in that direction turn you into the Redskins.

would you trade Barrett/McCareins (either or both) AND a R5 pick for Smiley?

i think i'd do that because we get a starting G for a R5 pick and two guys we might have cut anyway. but what if they ask for a R4 pick instead? i'm not sure, but i think i'd still lean towards doing it.

    cheers

I would not trade a future draft choice at this point unless I knew for certain I was getting a star in return.

Filling with journeymen at the expense of draftpicks is robbing Peter to pay Paul and Paul only lives to be 3.5 years old on average in the NFL.

There's a difference between trading picks for guys the Redskins trade picks for and trading picks for 26 year old offensive lineman with 3 years of starting experience under his belt.

That said, guards are very expensive, and Smiley will be no different. It might be better to develop someone.

Kinda tough trading these two since when the whole league is already anticipating that they'll either become June 1st casualties or TC cuts.

Yeah, one of the downsides of having productive players who are overpaid is that they often look like ripe targets to get cut. The overpaid part is not Tannenbaum and Mangini's fault.
