Does anyone actually think we did enough to overcome the Patriots?

You can't get into an arms race with division rivals and expect to succeed. The Jets play 14 other games in the course of a season. You can't build to beat one team. We are not Super Bowl contenders yet. The Jets will be a better team this year (regardless of record). I'm satisfied with a steady building process. That is how the Pats became perreniel contenders and so will it be for us. Keep the faith. This team is headed in the right direction.

We still won't stop the run and will have problems on 3rd and short. We still will have to blitz to generate any QB pressure as well so not alot has changed since last season. We added Thomas and perhaps a future shutdown corner but this essentially is the same team coming back with a harder schedule. We'll be damn lucky to go 10-6 again.

Forget about the Patriots. We ain't catching them this year but that doesn't rule out another WildCard run. We do have a reason to show up on Sundays in '07.

Your style of defense is Pats Defense. Your coach is Belechick protege. eom

  8. Our starting 22 are only a slight notch below that of the Pats(They have better lines, but we have the better back 7 and WR's).

Right now the main difference is depth. The Patriots have far superior depth to us. Once we right that portion and get strong 1 through 53...at that point we can overtake them.

I'm glad they didn't overspend in free agency. The market was overvalued. I thought they would have been in better shape after the draft even though we have improved ourselves.

The Pats gave you your coach. Funny Mangini must read every thing he can about Pats and try to beat them to players they are interested in in draft. Belechick must put out all this false draft info and sits back and laughs his ass off at Mangini. eom

Your recievers are better then the Pats? LMAO

  13. I strongly doubt that's the case. All signs point to the fact that both the Pats and Jets really wanted Revis, the Jets just made a better offer. And It's not like Revis doesnt help the Jets...he's most likely a starter day 1.

It doesn't matter if we did enough to compete with the Patriots, because we're not just competing with the Pats, but the National Football League. Just as the Jets front office should not be credited if the Patriots lose people to free agency and get worse, they should be discredited if the Pats get better. They should only be judged by how they help or do not help the Jets, and I personally believe that with the acquisitions of Jones and Coleman, and the selections of Revis and Harris that they should be judged quite well.

Our run D is much improved thanks to Harris, Coleman and maybe Haynes. In the 3-4, the pass rush is suppose to come from the OLBs where we have Thomas, Hobson and Bowen (maybe Wadsworth?) Not A+ material but improved. Likewise, we can expect Coleman to add more than Kimo.

I agree with the tougher schedule next year will be hard, but I absolutely believe we are a better team then last year.

How crazy would it be to just blow out the pats opening weekend, straight up dismantle them. I already cant wait.

Ok I'm going to name people and you match up the people on the Jets you think are better than the Pats:

    WR - Randy Moss
    WR - Donte Stallworth
    WR - Reche Caldwell

    OLB - Adalius Thomas
    OLB - Roosevelt Colvin
    ILB - Mike Vrabel
    ILB - Teddy Bruschi

    CB - Asante Samuel
    CB - Tory James
    CB - Ellis Hobbs

    SS - Rodney Harrison
    FS - Brandon Meriweather
    S - Artrell Hawkins

I'm going to go on record as saying I think the Jets are better at 3 of the 13 positions listed and worse at 7 with 3 tossups.

Obviously the defensive line, quarterback and tightend are better across the board for the Pats as are the RG and RT.

  19. - I'll take Coles and Cotchery over Daunte Stallworth and Moss(Until he proves he can go back to the player he once was)

    - I'll take Vilma over Bruschi at this stage in their careers

    - I'll take Revis over Tory James

    - I'll take Rhodes over Harrison at this stage in their careers

W/ that said I think Bt may end up matching Colvin, I think Miller could match Hobbs, B smith could pass Caldwell and Harris could surpass Vrabel who is aging. I know those are alot of If's..but they are all possible IMO.
