They talked about the Jets today on NFL live towards the end about whether they were legit contenders this year and the fact that Mangini is a Belichik disciple, etc. I have a TV here at work but its on MUTE and I really just wanted to know what they said and if it was anything interesting. If anyone saw it.. would you mind enlightening me? Thanks.
they dicussed how they see alot of belly in mangini and how he is forming the team well... the also said they arent a super bowl contender yet but did mention 10 wins
it sucks that mangini is going to have to be labeled bellicheck "disciple" for his entire coaching career. the worst part is if he wins, there still going to say it! ats_suck:
ehhh...people don't talk about Belichick being a Parcells disciple anymore. You win enough, you make your own rep.
Gee, DeathByJets, I'm new on the board and looking at your tombstones, there's two more "death games" that quickly come to my mind. First one is the Heidi Bowl. Every Jet fan, young or old, should know the details of that game. The second one is Mark Gastineau's late hit roughing the QB call on 4th down on Bernie Kosar's incomplete pass in the playoffs in the 80's. It gave the Browns a 1st down and then they drove the field to tie the scor at the end of regulation and then won it in OT. I can't remember the year, but it was one of the two years in which Cleveland lost to Denver, either "The Drive or The Fumble". Gastineau's late hit definitely cost the Jets a crack at the AFC championship.
hah i never really noticed that sig, pretty funny/depressing. The pitt game still haunts me:steelers:
They had a long segment at the end of the Sportscenter Special tonight where they talked about the Jets. They did nothing but hug some Jets sack throughout the whole thing. Whenever I see anything like that it feels like the kiss of death. Maybe I'm just used to the team competing every other year, but that's the way it feels. Both Eric Allen and Floyd Reese said we'd make the playoffs again, though they split on how productive T. Jones would be; Allen thought he would continue the productivity that he had in Chicago, Reese thought he would drop off. I can't remember the rest because I was mad that I missed the TV with my shoe when they switched to Kiper's increasingly narrow-nosed face for the draft prediction, which I didn't pay attention to.
Right now playoffs in the AFC, knowing what we know, is: East - New England North - Baltimore South - Indianapolis West - Unknown Wildcards - Unknown Now it's quite possible something else will happen with the 3 seeds we think we know, but I doubt it. Given that there have been at least 3 new teams in the AFC playoffs the last 3 seasons I think the odds on the Jets in the playoffs are long for 2007. Might happen but they have an uphill battle in my view. If Denver took the West and the Wildcards were either Cincinnati or Pittsburgh plus either Jacksonville or Tennessee we'd have the usual 3 new teams in the playoffs.
I wouldn't be stunned if Indy had a down year and Tennessee put together enough wins to pip them there. Mildly surprised, but not stunned.
10 wins this year would be a very good statement considering that our strength of schedule is much more difficult than last year.
