Each year my mate (a niners fan) and I try to identify our Mike Rumph (this being the player that there is a reasonable chance your team might take but that you really, really dont want them to). The year Rumph was selected by the niners my mate spent the whole draft up to then saying "I dont care who they take so long as its not Rumph" over and over again like a mantra - he was gutted (and history has proved him right on this) For me the one player I really hope we don't take is Chris Houston, who I think has bust written all over him (not literally, that would be weird).
houston and Olsen are both excellent rumphs, but in the interest of expanding the list I'll say Jarvis Moss.
I'll go with your first two. The Rumph of the draft though appears to be Brady Quinn, which is very funny.
Vilmatic--why not Jarvis Moss? Just asking because I can't figure out why he's dropping and he's the guy I've wanted from the get-go.
Part of it is, I think, that he ran about a 20 second 40. Actually, I think they say he is one dimensional. He can run straight ahead, doesn't cut well and doesn't get back in coverage very well.
I'm with Wolfe Tone. Definitely Olsen and Ross. Olsen because I don't see him being an upgrade over Baker. Ross because I think there are better cornerbacks (Revis, Houston, Tanard Jackson, Josh Wilson)
definitely Olsen. They may as well line him up at WR with that speed and zero blocking ability, and I think that need can be served elsewhere in the draft
After posting in this thread and seeing all the Olson fear, I hope we did not kinx ourselves, please let him be taken before we pick
agree with Don and Mobius, but also I just think we like multi-dimensional players and he seems very uni-dimensional - and, if you believe the numbers, even that dimension ain't that great.
i am not a big olsen fan and i hope carolina makes that mistake...but if a top 4 wr or top 3 cb is avialable i wouldnt mind
Right. If Florida lost to Ohio State, we might be talking about taking this guy with one of our second rounders or our third. He's got a good motor in pursuit but at this point he's a liability against the run and that's absolutely not what we need in our front 7.
I was hoping for some insight on his supposed character issues. From what I saw of Florida last year, Moss was definitely not a liability against the run, he even dropped back at times and just looked like a very solid 3-4 OLB prospect. Blocking kicks, big sacks, and stopping the run--time after time I saw him making big plays. He never seemed one-dimensional to me until I started reading other people's profiles of him. If he's your Rumph, consider him my Ed Reed--if he's there and we pass on him, I will be in a daze for the rest of day one, and bitter for a few years to come.
