Reggie Nelson seems to have the size (~6.0') and speed (4.3ish) to be an NFL CB and is known for his coverage skills and hard hits. His weight is a knock as a safety, so what do you think about drafting him as a CB...assuming he falls that far?

i dont think he would be on the board at 25...but he would be one of the bpa's if he was....he would be a much better safety and we could always draft a cb later on

Why would we move him to cornerback? If we drafted Nelson it would be to form one of the most badass safety tandems in the league, not to experiment by moving him to CB. If they wanted a corner, then they should pick a corner.

Well I was just thinking that if he is the DB athlete he's made out to be and is good at cover, fast, athletic, and a little skinny, but still the BPA, why not corner?

Is it just because he's played a different position in college, or something else I don't know about?

It's just because he's so good at Safety, it doesn't make sense to move him. Could he play Cornerback? Yeah, probably, but why not just take a kid that's earned his value at Corner, especially in the first round?

If I was drafting corner/ saftey i'm drafting Brandon Merriweather. He has great coverage skills and is a great football player. But I can see the patriots drafting him one ahead of us those idiots.

Can't see the Pats or Jets going near Merriweather in the first round. Maybe if he tumbled to the third for some reason.

Nelson had academic problems. The Jets already have a dumbass in their secondary (Justin Miller). I don't think they want another.

Keep in mind how readily the Patriots used to move CB's to safety, such as Eugene Wilson. It makes a lot more sense IF the Jets were to draft him to move him to corner. We are set with Kerry, and the Erics at safety.

That being said, if we want a CB, we should draft one.

  17. If we selected Nelson(and he would be awesome value at #25) It'd be for him to par w/ Rhodes, giving us a ton of speed and scary ability from our starting safeties.

W/ that said, Nelson does have the versatility to play some corner, which always sits well within the Mangini type philosophy. But by all accounts, he'd be brought in to play safety.
