    HI all.

Although Leinart is somewhat of a proven winner, his team got beaten, by a 1 man show. Yes I know Leinart does not play defense, but he is the leader of that team, and did not lead them to a win in his final game. I am not saying that Vince Young is better nor do I want to draft Vince Young

Getting back to why Leinart should not be drafted by us.

Has anyone noticed that huge brace he wears on his knee? Well if not I have, Leinart is not going to have a long career, his body looks extremely fragile, and with the condition of our o-line I could just see him taking a beating, with his thin and lanky frame he looks to have an injury plagued career.

Other reasons include, the possibility that he is a product of the system, when the innovative OC was @ SC, and the talen that he has had around him for his tenure @ SC. Furthermore, SC's line is dominant and full of road graders and maulers, I would trade their Oline last years for ours anyday.

Is he immobile? No, but I wouldn't call him elusive either.
I'm an arm strength guy as well, because the defenses of todays game are so quick, with guys jumping out routes, and slants coupled with our receivers inability to gain separation (except maybe for Coles), we need someone who can get the ball there on a rope, To be honest, I rate Leinarts armstrength, just a tad above what Chads was at his prime.

With all of those questions, I would prefer us to go after someone like Schaub, or even sticking with Brooksie, or maybe even Cutler if he drops. Couple those pick ups with a veteran QB to give Chad some competition during STing, and we should be fine @ QB...

WE NEED SOOO MUCH MORE HELP @ OTHER POSITIONS! Lets trade down and draft a RB, who can be an immediate impact, a roadgrading Guard and Tackle, and an impact player @ LB.

I love Matt Leinart, but if we decide to stay at 4 or trade down to take Cutler I will be thrilled with him as well...

Think about what the Rose Bowl came down to:

    Factors in USC's favor

    -national championship game experience
    -better overall talent
    -proven coaching
    -playing in their backyard
-two Heisman winners, plus Lendale White

    Factors in Texas's favor

    -Vince Young

    You do the math.

Actually Carson Palmer wore a big knee brace at USC to. And Matt did lead his team to victory in the Rose Bowl, it was the damn defense who couldnt get off the field. He had pretty damn good game and if his defense could have gotten one stop at the end we are talking about Vince's great performance all for naught

I also love it when people say it was "just one game."

Funny, Vince played in two Rose Bowls, and they both happen to be two of the greatest - if not THE two greatest - performances in a bowl game by anyone EVER!

If you are not con-Vince-d by what he did over his career, then you never will be.

He played against two bad defenses if you want to go check. He didnt beat Oklahoma until they lost many of there players and had to reload by playing freshmen. I like Vince Young, he scares me as a pro im not trying to diminish his big game ability but i would love to see him do that in an actual nfl game. He would get KILLED

but your avatar says it all.

Notice how he throws the ball...His form sucks asssss...he hasn't even planted his front foot....and throws off his back foot, he is 2-3 yrs away from being NFL ready

Vince beat an Ohio State defense in the Horseshoe that was better than any defense Matt Leinart faced his entire career. And Vince beat them with his arm.

The fact is Vince silenced all critics this year. The only critics still left are those that have not paid any attention and are going on superficial impressions.

TeamJets, I am no quarterback mechanic, but I do know that Vince has the kind of freakish strength that I don't think you can really force him into a conventional method. He can literally flick the ball 50 yards.

Tell me this: what do you see once the ball actually leaves his hands? I see beautiful, tight spirals that hit his guys on the numbers at just the right moment. What else do you need? Explain the high pass efficiency rating if his mechanics are so bad.

Leinart's frame doesn't worry me. He's a great player plain and simple. Should the fact he played on a good team keep us from taking him? Should we assume that we arent going to get any better and just need a great QB? Here's the case if we build around Leinart which looks like we would do once he gets a "good" team around him we know he can win. With Cutler? I dont know we can have an all star team and he still may not get it done. That again depends on how much value you put into the college systems and how they translate to the pros.

Well if we do infact trade for Schaub then we can pretty much kiss the "Draft the QB" idea good bye. We still haven't done or heard anything in regards to our RB possition. Maybe Mangini has faith in Martin.

thank you...i have wanted vince young all along

this guy is going to be a superstar....he is the best qb prospect in this draft IMO....i like cutler also and wouldn't be that dissapointed, but taking leinart would upset me, nevermind trading up....if we take him i'll root for him like crazy, but i get the feeling that he will be an average type qb

Was this thread bumped or is it deja vu?

I also think he is a product of the system and am not enamored with him.

He does look fragile, i have to admit.

If Leinart is there at #4(hahaha) then so be it. Otherwise trading up is not a good idea.

What amazes me about the criticism I hear about Young(mostly the mechanics) - is that people are convinced that Cutler's bad form can be fixed, but Vince's can't?

I don't know if we will wind up drafting Vince but I wouldn't be upset if we did. Hell I'd like it better than Brick : )

If a system produces a Pro Bowl QB, is it really a system? That's like saying don't draft Miami Linebackers because they're a product of the system.

Well said. Leinart is the real deal. Even though he had a world of talent around him - he still showed that he was in the same class as them. Nobody had to carry Leinart. That being said - I am not interested in trading up at all. If he slides then great.

    You must be mad!!!!

If we pass up on Matt Leinart (which we wont if he is still on the board) the F.O. would be insane!
