This time of year everyone is mostly talking about who they think their favorite team will select in the first round. The bottom line is everyone team gets a great player in the first round. What separates the winners and losers in the draft is who finds talent in the later rounds. Since Mangini's mentors are Parcells and Belicheck i feel he is well trained in finding talent in later rounds. This is only my opinion give me some of your thoughts.
Yes, I know there have been some busts but everyone usually selected in the first is usually very solid.
Mike Williams? Joey Harrington? Blair Thomas? Ryan Leaf? Akili Smith? Ki-Jana Carter? Would you prefer Ken O'Brien or Dan Marino? Late round drafting is great but there are a ton of first round busts too. Next Thread.
I think Dewayne is going to flourish in the 3-4, I think yes, your draft success IS determined by how well you do int he later rounds and I think yes, you SHOULD get a good player when you select in the first round. Not everyone does, but the point is that you are not done once you've made the easiest selection of the entire weekend.
Usually everyone is solid in the first round? Here is just a SMALL list of first round busts... http://espn.go.com/melkiper/s/2001/0406/1168617.html
Mike Williams was drafted last year. Detroit drafted: Joey Harrington in 2002 Charles Rogers in 2003 Roy Williams in 2004 Mike Williams in 2005
like the yoda character had said he was drafted last year, and that does not give someone enough time to label a player a bust
Yeah...I was going to post a link, but I figured everyone knew which Mike Williams I was talking about.
I think pretty much most of the posters knew this already. But if you had to make it a thread fine, i get a free post hehehe.
