Hey Jet's fans, first time poster and long time fan. How does this sound??? We all know the Jet's are not superbowl contenders this year so what I would do is this.

    1) With the 4th pick I would explore some scenarios that would enable us to trade down. This is assuming that Bush, Ferguson and Leinart are off the board. I believe the Jet's need to obtain multiple picks. If they could trade down to like 8 or 9 and gain an extra 2nd then I would do it. At the 8 or 9th pick I would look at Cutler. With the extra 2nd rounders I would look at Mangold or Giles and with the other 2nd take a LB.

    2) If we end up with the 4th pick I would seriously consider taking AJ Hawk. I know it's not a popular choice by most but he would be a great addition at LB.

All in all, I would love for the Jet's to trade down and acquire more picks. Give Tanny and Mangini more ammo to get "their" type of player.

Thoughts? Man, i'm glad I found this board!

    ummm.... huh.

O guess i agree with some of it. I would love for the Jets to trade down, maybe for what you said, or maybe for this years 1st & next years 1st if we throw something in. At around #10 i would look Vernon Davis, Cutler, Ngata, and any other of the BPA.

If we were to stay at the 4th pick & those three that you mentioned were gone, Hawk would be a great pick

If the Jets stay w/ #4 then they have to pick D'brick since, Leinart, Bush will most likely be gone. But my opinion they have to trade to get Leinart.
I dont think they will go w/ AJ Hawk since b/c of Vilma, they have more important needs than LB right now

Just curious but did you try to make this guy feel stupid or something? His first post and I think he comes up with one of the most intelligent first posts I've seen on here since I've been on this site. I don't know what you were reading, but I thought that was a pretty damn good first post.

Being that i am a rookie on this site also, i think it was a very good post to start out with. good ideas, but i still believe that a franchise QB does not come around every year, if they have a shot at Leinart they have to take it.
What will it take to get houston to give up #1 pick to make sure we can ge him?

I don't think the Jet's will get D'brick. I think the Saints will take him at #2. Personally, I'm not that big on Leinart. I think in a 3-4 D, the linebacker play is key and w/ Hawk your getting a solid (potential pro-bowler) player for the next 10 years.

The key to building a solid team and foundation is what you do with your picks in rounds 2 on. If they can "hit" on some players in the mid-to later rounds then we will be ok. They definitely need to address their O-line w/ a second rounder. I would prefer a beefy, nasty type of player like Giles. I would love for the Jet's to develop an O-line that has attitude.
