Despite all the rumors , Denver is the front-runner for TO; as a result, this would take Denver completely out of the picture. Also, there are speculations from Adam Schefler (NFL Network) that Seattle plans to counter offer Minnesota's bid for Hutchinson, then what do we do? Seattle has already resigned Rocky Bernard and Warrick. So, while Denver have the 1st rd picks that we are looking for, they just don't have the money to sign him.
Seattle doesn't get to counter Minnesota's bid. They get to match the principle conditions of it, or he's gone. That's the rules. They can match and change minor things, but they must match the principles.
I am not sure why people are reporting denver all the sudden has no cap space. Just as early as monday they were ready to offer Andre Carter & Jamal Lewis both contracts. On monday they had about 13 million to play with needing 5-6 million of that to sign their draft picks. Since then the only signing they have made was for back up linebacker Nate webster which cost us less then a million. On top of that if shanny wants to trade for abe he is going to give up one of those firsts which will lower the amount we need for rookies and raise the amount they have to play with. I am not making this stuff up either I have provided a link to the article from the denver post yesterday. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_3599572
sign, counter, whatever. Why would Seattle keeping hutchinson or Denver picking up TO take them out of the running for Abe? If Washington can fit half the league under the cap, those teams can find room for a guy they really want - if they really want him.
I hope they do!!! We need a pass rusher so we don't have to send 8-9 guys every time we need to get pressue leaving our corners out on an island. You guys need to get better accross the board and keeping a malcontent player that dosnt want to be their is not going to help. It would be a good trade for both teams they just need to getit done.
I think there's a good chance we will get a #1 for JAbe ... but I think it's highly likely that it may be a #1 in 2007. Which I'm fine with so long as we get a taste in 2006 (player that fits a need, or at least a 3 Rd. in '06.)
You still need the money to sign Abraham. Most of the top players have been signed by the 3 or 4 teams in contention for Abe.
trouble with giving up a great player for a future pick is that its counterintuitive.. abraham will help that team perform better and therefor they would have a higher draft pick next year.. You can't think that way all the time, but it does concern me who we would take a pick from for next years draft. I wouldnt want a 2007 1st from denver for example
