Beyond staying healthy, and New England imploding, here is my specific wishlist for 2007.

    1. Chad's arm gets a little stronger.

The hope here is that Chad's first, rehab-free off-season in 4 years allows him to train harder and get stronger and be able to hit the deep outside passes with more velocity. This will give the offense a little more breathin room. (I expect a slight, but significant improvement.)

    2. The running game explodes.

The hope here is that the combination of: (1) Jones, Washington and Barnes (2) a year's experience and strength training for Ferguson and Mangold, and (3) the addition of a big nasty guard or right tackle in the draft make the Jets running attack potent and Chad's play-action passing, lethal. (I expect a huge improvement.)

    3. The sack total doubles.

The hope here is that the pass rush will indeed be upgraded either by the combination of FA acquistions or the emergence of one of these guys (Coleman, Wadsworth, Bowens.) Maybe the competition relights the fire under Ellis. (Maybe not double, but a 50% improvement)

    4. We can stop the run when we need to.

The hope here is that the absence of a true NT is negated by either Mangini's brilliance, D-Rob's emergence, or a miraculous pick later this month. (Not feeling it.)

    5. The Jets secondary becomes a very dangerous place to thrown the ball.

The hope here is that the Jets snare their best cornerback since Aaron Glenn with the 1st pick in the draft, Rhodes enjoys the first of a long run of ProBowl seasons, and Coleman returns to his rookie impact form. (I believe it.)

Tom Brady tripping over Gisele's underwear and breaking his arm is bubbling under at #6.

So if we play better than ever before in every area of the game we have a chance to increase our level of success?

The Jets will not win the superbowl in 2007. Too many positions still need to be upgraded and the team needs to gell a little more. To boot, our schedule is projected to be much more difficult than last year's.

I'll be happy to just see the same record and a playoff berth...

Clemmens takes over after Chad goes down in week 3 and turns into our version of Tom Brady.

I would throw in a second year under the same OC to improve continuity should help the O. As mentioned, more difficult schedule and higher expectations could be a detriment.

Oh, and we've got to hit on the draft like we did last year. Need a minimum of three new starters (RG/RT, DC, impact LB; I'd like a weapon at WR or TE, but I can't get too greedy).

We will never hit on the draft like last year. We have fewer picks and all are lower in each round. Which was another reason to do something in FA.

As long as Pennington stays healthy, the Jets will make the playoffs and be in the Super Bowl hunt.

We got Leon in the fourth round last year, which just goes to prove there are a lot of steals no matter what place you sit in each round. Granted, we don't have the # 4 pick in each round this year, but we have the chance to hit on this draft regardless.

and just what exactly has leon proved?? we'll know in a couple more years but, he hasn't exactly taken the nfl by storm or even prove to be good enough to be a starter.

Trey Ko has been proof enough for Leon, It's good enough for me...

Pennington is gonna thread the needle so well this year. We are going to see many games of a man possessed.

We had more picks last year so we could take a few chances.

I agree, and expect it. Chad needs to play another full year and get stronger. The running game will improve, the Jones/Washington combo will be nearly unstoppable. With all the moves we have made with DE's, I expect alot of improvement there. And I also feel we should use that #25 pick on either a big DT or a #1 CB. And whichever we don't pick, we use on our first second rounder.

we might make the playoffs..but i dont think we willl be in the Super Bowl hunt or a Super Bowl contender...in the NFC, yeah we would be a Super Bowl contender without a doubt, but lets be realistic...can we win playoff games against teams like San Diego, Denver, New England, Baltimore and Indy and probably on the road...I dont think we can do that this year
