Let's say the NFL says they are pulling the $600-million in unsecured funding for a NJ Meadowlands Stadium. What about the idea of the Jets and Giants and the NFL going partners on a WSS with a retractable roof - that can host the Super Bowl?
no way it would have been a mess last time this will just be worse. Most people would rather the stadium be in queens anyway.
I used to support this, but I have absolutely no need for it. I work and drive in the city. The LAST thing we need is a West Side Stadium. The last thing I need is more tax dollars out of my moderate pre-commission paycheck. Moreover, I think Woody's learned his lesson. No one of consequence in Manhattan wants this to happen. If I hear Jay Cross go on and on about how the Jets belong in New York in their own stadium one more time I'm going to shoot myself. That nonsense propaganda was an insult to any intelligent fan. This was always about Woody Johnson's real estate portfolio. The fact of the matter is the Jets could very easily build a stadium in Queens or Brooklyn. Moreover, there are plenty of areas far more in need of the alleged(read-bullshit) economic benefits associated with a publicy financed stadium in those boroughs, and they're far more accessible to the fan base and less disruptive to traffic on the whole. As soon as Woody Johnson didn't get his West Side Stadium all the nonsensical rhetoric about how the Jets needed their own Stadium and needed to be in New York got dropped. Here we go back to New Jersey as permanent houseguests. Just awful. If the Jets really cared about the situation, they'd have made the easy move to Brooklyn/Queens. They care about the bottom line. -X-
Exactly what do you mean by this part of your post? "Here we go back to New Jersey as permanent houseguests."
Houseguests? That's a dumb comment under the CURRENT situation, and even worse with the new situation where we're equal PARTNERS.
Funny I to asked the same question. I cannot belive how many uninformed NYJ fans there are on this board
From everything that I've read, there isn't going to be one feature of the stadium that will make one team feel inferior to the other. Hell, the article I read last week even said the outside of the stadium will light up different colors depending on who is playing. The name of the stadium won't be Giants stadium so the only thing the Giants have over the Jets, if people really want to nitpick, is that they practice closer to the stadium. Of course, if the Giants really want to practice in a swamp, let them. I have no problem with them being equal partners with the Giants on this.
I'm in disbelief that this thread even exists. All this was discussed in threads here eons ago and plastered all over every news source for years. Anyone even remotely informed knows what the outcome is. This all didn't happen last week. While I suppose anyone is entitled to post anything they want in the way of an opinion, I can't believe somebody would continually embarass themselves posing questions like: "If the NFL pulls the plug on NJ..." or "Why don't we "dump" the Meadowlands idea?" It's just astonishing, really.
It is ultimate sour grapes on GG part & the funny thing he NOT even a season tix holder so he has zero investment in where the stadium should be
it's going down in NJ.. but i think the new stadium will still be sick, even if it's not in NY. I would love it in NY... but its not like its FAR into NJ.
Does he need to be a season ticket holder in order to have an opinion on where the Jets play? You live in Texas and I'm sure you'd much rather see the Jets have their own stadium and not have to share one with a much less inferior team. Could you imagine the pissed off people in Austin if they decided that the Longhorns would play a home schedule with games in San Antonio, Dallas, Corpus Christi and Wichita Falls. Would you need to be a season ticket holder of the Horns to be upset with that?
Considering everything in the new stadium is being decided 50/50 and that no one team will control the stadium, its name, the seat colors, etc., just what are you basing your statement upon??
Well I would suspect that the season tix holders of the L/horns would get upset but outside of them since it would be on TV I doubt non season tix holders would care so long as Texas won. Also, BTW the examples U pulled out were miles & miles away while the M/Lands is all of 3 or 4 miles from NYC & if I recollect correctly a very, very short hop thru the Lincoln tunnel gets you there real fast like. It is not like the stadium is in Albany or Trenton or Camden or Hartford it is right where it has been since 84. Also when they were at Shea I used to commute 70 miles each way to see them from my home in NJ each & every regular season game from 69 onwards
