First, don't presume to know who I wanted the Jets to sign and didn't. I tried to avoid the Jets board for most of the free agency, and stayed in the bullshit forum where there is sanity. I didn't want Porter, the Jets need to get younger and look towards the future to be perennial contenders. They don't need another aging vet. I was very happy when they signed Coleman, because it was clear they are thinking long term and trying to get younger. I was very happy when they resigned Bryan Thomas and Cotchery for this very same reason. Would I have been happy if they signed A.Thomas? Sure I would. But not for the contract he signed. The Jets have more pressing needs and that money can be better spent elsewhere.

Second this isn't about not respecting the Pats. Or them signing a good player. Yay for them! But that was not my point. The point is what other teams do DOESN'T matter. I don't care what the Pats do, I care about if the FO and CS get the players they want and need to succeed, I don't care if that is the janitor. But here is the main point: NO ONE WINS IN FREE AGENCY! They win during the regular season. Who knows how these signings will translate into the regular season. You don't get an extra point in the win column because you had the best offseason, or signed the highest paid FA. Acting like the offseason is another season you have to win, and competing with other teams during free agency, is a recipe for disaster. Example A: Redskins, example B: Lions.

It is better to build long term for continued success. It is better to look at who the FO is signing like Coleman, or resigning like Thomas an Cotchery, and try to understand what they are focusing on and trying to do. Because that will translate into wins during the season and onward. That is what matters, not what the Pats, or 49ers, or anyone else is doing.

Ok guy with tatoo of dragon on your neck. I just put two and two together and figured that the Pats have been champs three times in seven years from great drafting and great FA pickups. That plus a great coach (whom i hate with a passion) translates into winning. You keep creating your own little reality of what it takes for the Jets to climb the mountain.

A few blurbs from a recent interview of pats gm Scott Pioli.

" There are no trophies handed out for what you do in March, we will continue to build through the draft". - Scott Pioli

"Someone asked me a couple weeks ago if we were making one last run, trying to win it. To me, it’s amazing, because we’re not building for just the 2007 season, we’re building for ’08, ’09, ’10, ’11, ’12, so this is long-term. So [a trade] is a possibility if the right opportunity is there. We take a long-range look. Bill and I want to be there for a while, we want to have success. It’s not just about building and making a quick run at it, we want to try to sustain success.” - Scott Pioli

That is how Pioli and Bellichick feel. With 10 draft picks and there proven drafting skills I would think they will use this years draft othe best of there abilities. When have they not?

Isn't posting on a Patriots message board under a different name enough for you? Why are you here wasting our time? Get do something worthwhile for a change.

How old are you exactly? Tattoo of a dragon on your neck? Really? That all you can come with? It is actually a scan of a limited edition painting, "Monarch" by one of the premiere fantasy artists of the last 20 years by the name of Ruth Thompson. But hey you're the smart guy, right?

And what does that last sentence even mean? My own little reality? I am not the one here playing Madden and making it sound like someone wins the offseason. Or the draft, or FA. It is an attitude many people have and it is idiotic. "My team signed the highest paid free agent! Yay we won the offseason! Yay now they can just give us the trophy we don't even have to play!" Honest to God, the offseason is not a competition. What do you think they give you an extra win in the W column because you signed the most high profile FAs? If that was the case the redskins would have won every year.

Maybe instead of trying to think of some smartass remark, or trying to win an argument, you might want to think about the point I was trying to make because you obviously missed it completely.

Once again yay for the Pats. Give them a reach around while you're at it. Someone else who completely and utterly misses the point. What this reply has to do with the point I was making I have no idea. The Jets had 10 picks last year, where were you during the last offseason?

The original image he posted was homophobic.

I saw it before the switch and immediately reported the post (probably the third time I ever reported a post). I also asked if it was possible for his handle to be changed to patsman22.

The Pats are one of 4 or 5 teams that will compete for a SB. They haven't won in a couple of years and they have lost a lot of quality talent, players that are more than just a draft pick but mature, top quality players who were leaders and champs. McGinist, Troy Brown, Phifer, Law, Branch and others that make a team a champ aren't just replaced in FA or the draft they have to be developed. The Pats are very good. They also have lost tons of coaching talent, mature solid coaching talent. Whether the new guys are up to the job, who knows?

Do I think the Pats will do a good job in the draft, probably they will have one of the better drafts in the league. Past performance is no guarnatee of future returns especially when the past performers are leaving.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I just saw three mocks with the Patsies taking Brandon Merriweather at # 28. Now that would give us problems for years.
