Sadly I think this might happen. For those of you watching the games last year, he was definitely coming into his own, and saw some decent pt.

He's a burner, that's for sure. But now it seems as if with the 3-4, coupled with his smallish size, he might not be an ideal fit on the field, and will instead be looking at a career of ST tackles and nothing more.

    Thoughts?

Special teams seems like good fit. Maybe we can take advantage of his versatility and play him as a rover, assuming hes got decent enough coverage skills, even though you dont really see them all that often at this level

I LOVE this gut. Ever since we drafted him as a "project" out of the U I knew he would be a nice player. I just hope he can come back strong from his Pre Season injury. Was it an ACL or a broken leg? I would love to see him blitz in some nickel packages...

Hey neighbor (Holtsville here) what are you basing the "no football instincts" remark on? The guy never saw meaningful PT until last year, where he was coming on strong until the injury.

Basing it on his time at UM?

With his speed, if he bulked up he could be a great blitzing OLB

I think he can be a valuable player on D. I won't discount anyone that came from The U.

I agree....if he can bulk up a little bit, i think he can be a great blitzer but he has a lot of work to do in the progress...lets hope he comes back to the same speed he was before he got injured!

ehh...mcclover looked like a good fill in guy during his rookie season, but the injury in the very 1st preseason game of last year set back his value completely
not too mention the guy's talent comes from his speed and he broke his ankle
i want to see him come back, but who knows
and KOZ you are confusing me with these last year comments...the 4-12 season is now last year

i don't think it's that he lacks instincts; rather general football knowledge which can be taught over time.

    cheers

Bulk up a little??? Hes what, around 220? Bulk up to what then, 260? 40 pounds?

I think rover would be the best option

I personally like him as special teams player, I mean obviously he is basing the no football instincts on the fact that he did not start at Miami, This guy is athletic as a special teams guy but he wont see any real playing time on defense, besides he season ending injury im sure set him back a little in terms of speed, but I think overall all you will get out of him will be special team play if he is even on our roster going into next season.
