Wade Smith-T- Jets Mar. 9 - 11:39 pm et Jets re-signed OL Wade Smith to an undisclosed contract. The former third-round pick could battle Adrian Jones to start at right tackle for the Jets, who may need to replace free agent Anthony Clement.
Why did Jones not start last season? Was he beaten by Clement or was he injured? I don't want Jones there as a starter...let's package Barrett or McCariens with a pick and find ourselves an upgrade for Clement.
colombo signed with dallas. i expect us to go after offensive lineman in the draft. the jets, if any good history in the draft, have been good about drafting lineman high up and lown in the draft.
If we pick Blalock, he could battle for the RT job. I prefer him at guard, but he could definitely play RT.
Fabini was also released by Dallas. I know he will never be a left tackle ever again but a RT???? If anything its would be a last option.
Say it with me...not a "Mangini Guy"...didn't he get shipped out for his attitude (was it him or mawae talking smack on noodles?) and lack of production?
what's up with this guy? # 78 Ed Blanton Position: T Height: 6-9 Weight: 330 Born: 10/23/1982 College: UCLA NFL Experience: 1 6-9 sounds a little ridiculous for a football player (gettin stood up)...is he any good?
Actually, I think this guy is going to be our next RT. His feet are a little slow but I know that the CS were working on that extensively last year. We also went out of our way to not allow him to get signed off our PS by another team.
I think the CS is high on Blanton, and I remember seeing and hearing a lot of good things about him from training camp last year. He could very well be our next RT.
Maybe Blanton is ready but maybe not. Signing Wade gives us a veteran option as well. He is a solid depth signing. He has tackle experience, can play guard and was our back up center last year. What this signing says is we have options at right tackle and aren't desperate to sign some one. A good move.
I'm all for that. We should move up or down with our first round pick. The 25th pick this year seems no better then the second round.
Blanton was promoted off the taxi squad for the playoff game against NE. Maybe they were protecting him, maybe they were rewarding him for his practice work during the season. Eiher way, I think it means at a minimum, they like him. As Kurt the Jets fan has noted, he looked pretty clumbsy at the beiginning of training camp, bad footwork, but showed marked improvement before camp broke. He could very well be earmarked as the starter at RT, but in pencil. He's hard to moiss out there, he's so freakin big. Smith on the other hand did nothing that I can remember to make him stand out last year. I doubt he's anything more than depth.
This is simply a warm body insurance move. I cannot believe that the staff really wants to rely on Jones and Smith as the RTs for the upcoming season. However, if it does come to that, I think Jones may be able to hold his own. I'd rather not have to find out, though.
"Darling"? LMAO. Hope he might be an answer at RT? Some of us hope so, but are not optomistic. maybe we should just cut him. Would that make you happy? No one is sending the guy flowers here. just hoping he might have some small chance of being a nice surprise. Darling.... yer shittin me. Oh, good screen name tho.....
