I hate to admit it. Players don't want to play for the J-E-T-S. Why?

Corey simon was picked up after the fourth exhibition game in pre-season. He wasn't one of these types of March signings. He was an Abraham type of holdout with Philly.

Exactly. I am pleased the Jets haven't signed any "impact" free agents thus far.
Don't worry. The Jets will start the 2006 season with a full roster.

Thats right free agency is to fill those one or 2 holes on your team that would make everything all set for your team. The draft is to fill the rest of your roster for players of the future.

As a former Long Islander I have to say that I would not move back. While living there I was caught up on the whole Long Island is a great place to live. But it actually is a terrible place to live, especially if you have a little bit extra $$.

Take the guy making $1MM a year for 10 years. After taxes and such he could barely afford a nice house on the water, but other parts of the country he could get a mansion on the water. Then throw in the stupid commuting that the players have to do and it all adds up to a crappy situation.

And everyone talks about endorsement deals with NY, but in reality small market players that make an impact are more likely to get the big $$ in endorsements. In NY they have to compete against the Giants, Yankees and Knicks for endorsements. Who do you compete against in Minni?

You've added more points on top of my post earlier that make it a tough sell for NY on average. The big huge salary guys (C-Mart) don't care either way, but that tier of players selecting between two-three markets, they look at the above and may not like what they see about NY. You have to remember, outside of New York, most people can't stand New York. So agents, players, etc. are giving this biased counsel to their players...

The Jets lost their figurehead and person with the most credibilty in the organization in Edwards. Edwards like him or not gave a pathetic jets FO credibilty and attracted players to the Jets.

They replaced Edwards and Bradway with 2 people with almost no expereince. One was hired by the Jets as a coffee boy and the other by the Browns as a water boy. It will take quite awhile before our FO and new HC gain respect from players and people around the league. The keystone cops style offseason didn't help either. The bungling of trading Edwards, hiring of our new HC, and the problems occuring with the mass exodus of coordiantors such as Heimerdinger all helped make the Jets the laughing stock of the league for most of Janaury. Its not suprising that players will be leery about joining this team until the kiddie corps can show they can do more than serve coffee and water and actually produce results. For many years the Bengals had to substantially offer FA's more than other teams to get them to just consider playing in cincinnati. Until the kiddie corps prove themselves we will most likely have the same problem.

Most of you are talking about money. I'm not talking about money. If you read the post I said low price or high price. I didn't say go out and spend as much as you can. Even cheap guys don't want to play for the J-E-T-S. $1 or$1,000,000,000.00. The J-E-T-S are having trouble getting players to sign.
Also, the term impact player mean someone that makes a hugh contribution to your team. Not, a player that cost a lot of money.

hmm im pretty sure that disasterous team beat the bucs last year...and actually were in the middle of the road in cap room right now

they need to remake the team and put their stamp on it, they were never planning to go crazy in the FA market

I for one am glad that we are deciding to draft first then fill in holes with FA. Why would we sign Ma'ake when we have a chance for Watson? Why break the bank for Bentley when Mangold might be available. See what ya got before you go shopping.

I really hope this guy didn't ruin the J-E-T-S chant for me. I hope that I don't wind up flashbacking to this thread anytime this season.
