Banks give us Props It's rare that Don Banks gives the Jets ANY credit... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/don_banks/03/08/rating.rbs/index.html
Steve Smith on ESPN called the Jets acquisition of Thomas Jones - the best move by any club acquiring a running back so far this off season.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/don_banks/03/08/rating.rbs/index.html Well so many sports writers are talking highly on Jones, and the Jets ability to steal Jones for next to nothing !!!
Been posted a couple of times, but definitely good to hear. I'm going to wait until I actually see him in action before getting too excited though...
Well I just woke up and still have the eye crusties . So Im not operating at full speed yet ....They also predict 1,350 yards for Jones . . I understand Denver's history with R.B's but how does Henery get more yards . I feel the Jets are going to make a serious run next year @ NE and have a deep playoff run. But I also feel the Jets are 2 yrs away from serious contention (Ihope I'm wrong....) but LETS GO JETS !!!!! :jets: :jets: :jets: :jets:
Think about it.. We did get him for NOTHING. Absolutely nothing? How do I say that? We acquired #37 this year from the skins by allowing them to swap picks with us in the 2nd round last year. We had Clemens targetted, and knew we'd get him a little lower. We did, and got #37... for free basically. So, in essence, for dealing down with the Skins last year a few slots, we got #63 and Thomas Jones... Amazing. Now, of course ,last year, this backfired on us in the 3rd round when we tried the same thing and missed out on some DE.. I can't remember what his name was, but he ended up going to the Eagles and being on IR all year.
i remember that also. tangini did great in the second round, but then got cute in the third. we ended up with schlegel...
 I think I'm the only one left on the planet who thinks Schlegel is going to become a player in this league before long. Although, my Mom always said I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so to speak...
Yes, you are. I'd be happy if he could just be a special teamer and a 3rd ILB in the 3-4 behind the starters... Until then, let him keep hunting wild boar with a butter knife.
I don't know about this for nothing business...but all things considered we got a proven rb and leader w/o it costing too much.
I also think Schegal could end up playing well in the system. He had a crappy rookie year and the entire fanbase writes him off. Bryan Thomas had a crappy first 4 seasons and we just resigned him to a large contract and the majority of the fanbase masturbated over it. Welcome to Fickle-ville, Population - Green.
Nice to hear but I don't lend much credence to what Steve Smith says about football. He is a basketball guy. Just like I wouldn't listen to what Mike and the dog say about hockey. Not their specialty.
Sorry I meant Michael Smith, who is a senior ESPN NFL writer. He also previously covered the Patriots for the Boston Globe for three years.
