I hope I am not the only who feels this way, I think that the Jets are in prime shape to pick Alan branch on Draft day. 6-6 330 lbs! A perfect fit for the NT position of the 3-4. Thoughts??????

There's one problem, being that he'll be gone within the top ten.

Mel has him at 22 on the big board. Why not not package Robertson and move up? Send Robertson to a 4-3 team in need of a 3 technique tackle.

If we did that I'd be very, very happy, but don't trust Kiper's board. He's usually pretty far off. Branch had an incredible combine. In fact, I'd be surprised if he's not off the board after Washington picks at number 6.

first of all, alan branch is 4 on scouts inc. So since there is such a big difference in the two, i would go with scouts inc considering every single mock draft has him going in the top 10. Second, we wont be able to move up 20 some odd picks my simply trading our first and robertson. D-wayne will NOT repeat NOT garner very much trade value, because he still hasn't proven himself and he has a large contract. We would have to throw both our second round picks and that would not be worth it. I personally think alan branch is an absolute beast and will be excellent in the NFL. But there's no way we can get him. And to reiterate what was said, he only boosted his stock after the combine. Nice thought but keep dreaming.

Just cuz Mel has him at 22 on the board, doesn't mean he won't project him to go Top 5. His big board is not his draft picks.

I would like to see us draft a top rated NT. Im all for it if he slides to us but it seems unlikely.

Walter Thomas is the guy we will get 6' 7" 370. We will take him in the 4th-6th rnd area.

just because a guy is fat as hell doesn't mean he would be good on a 3-4 line. stop looking at the biggest guys there are in the draft and start saying lets draft this guy and he'll be a great fit. There's a lot more to football than size.

I don't think Branch or Okoye makes a great 3-4 NT...

We're better off hoping that Robertson adds 10 pounds and some strength or that Sione Pouha can step finally step in.

Carriker would be an excellent 3-4 DE but he's definately not there for our pick and may be top 15-20 at this point.

  18. 2 things...

    1. Mangini loves Robertson, and Robertson improved drastically as the year went on, and became a pretty solid NT

    2. Branch does not project well as a 3-4 NT. He is either a 4-3 Nose like Shaun Rogers or a 3-4 end.Essentially trading D rob for him would create an even bigger hole at NT.
