Just wondering what everyone thinks the Jets could get if they were to dangle Robertson as trade bait. Of COURSE this is purely hypothetical, so don't jump down my throat for insinuating any sort of trade.

Fact of the matter is that Robertson had a fairly good year in 2006, but doesn't truly fit our 3-4 system. His value should be relatively high right now. Thoughts? No thoughts?

When I read the title I was ready to jump on you
I would think that we would very very lucky to get a 1st rounder for him , but definatly a 2nd.
Mangini seemed to heep alot of praise on him so I doubt we will be gone.

i highly doubt hes gone. i think mangini loved what he saw of dewayne late in the season.

and by just bringing in two DE's its not too bizarre to think that mangini thinks D-Rob can cut it at at NT. if not hes good enough to address the needs areound him instead of scampering to replace him.

I would support it if it was the right deal.

Will Pouha be healthy finally this season? We also still have that other huge Samoan guy on the roster.....I dunno....I'd let D-Rob go but I doubt anyone wants to pay him what we are....

  5. Mangini likes D rob b/c he can play any position in the 3-4 relatively effectively and is uniquely disruptive within the scheme. Size wise, he may not be a good fit, and skill wise, he is inddede unique within it, but there's a reason many players were stating he was the best player on our D last year.

I doubt he is going anywhere

I agree with Kurt - as much as I'd like to find a true dominating NT - there don't seem to be many out there. I liked Pouha, but he's got to be a big question mark.

DRob stays at least one more year...

I think DRob is going to have a monster season this year. He'll be comfortable with the position, finally, and he will be able to just go out there and play. I'm looking for big things from him and I think by the end of the year we'll finally be getting our money's worth out of him.

I keep reading on this board that posters "are still very high on Pouha".
Can someone explain to me what this guy has done to make you think he is the answer. To my recollection he is already in his late 20's.

When it comes to Pouha, something just doesn't smell right.

D-Rob would have a lot of value to a team in a 4-3. I don't think the Jets will trade him though because they really need bodies in the defensive front right now.

Moving D-Rob, if you want to do it, is a project for the first offseason when the Jets have a surplus of talent on the defensive line. Maybe after next season if they manage to acquire some quality there in the draft this year.

in order to get anything worth getting for robertson it would have to be a player for player trade...but seeing as we cant replace robertson this year it wouldnt be worth doing
his value in terms of a draft pick would not be high at all...
we need to sign someone to help him/add depth...not trade him and try to find 2 more bodies

if someone is talking a player up that can be a good thing...but at the same time they can also be talking the player up to boost appeal throughout the league....

I wish we could, since his cap # is so huge but we dont have anyone as good in the middle yet. Hopfully that will change with the acquisition of Walter Thomas 6'7" 370 from Missouri.
