I remember this like it was yesterday. BelliChicken was all set to draft Kyle Brady with the tenth pick for Cleveland and the Jets selected Kyle Brady with the 9th pick. Bill went nuts throwing shit in the Brown's warroom and promptly traded the pick to the Niners, who had the 30th pick, who drafted JJ Stokes at # 10. I remember a reporter basically saying Bellichicken practically had a breakdown in the warroom...funny shit.

I remember Jet fans being pissed, myself included......about Brady too........he really sucked. We got a good one at 16 with Hugh Douglass.

Well Bill......you got your savior :)

BTW...this is the Warren Sapp draft.

That is one draft that I will never forget. I was sitting in my living room with my buddy who I still watch the draft with every year. When the Jets were on the clock we were chanting Sapps name along with the thousands in attendance. So what to the Jets do they draft a freaking TE with a top 10 selection who ended up being a major bust. To this day I have never been so dissapointed with a Jets selection, the only one who came close was the Bryan Thomas selection.

The only thing that Brady is good for is run blocking. I guess that N.E. is planning to run the ball a bit more next season. Also, the two (2) tight end setup was designed to counter the 3-4 defensive front so it looks like N.E. is going to be running that front a lot also.

What do both of those selections have in common? They were both selected before Kyle Brady..

At the time, everyone including me wanted ED Reed, who played a position of great need. Not to mention just two years before we used two first round picks on the defensive line.

as far as first rounders I agree. Kotite pulled another blunder the next year (1996) when he had the first pick in the 2nd round and picked...Alex Van Dyke. He had Chrebet, signed Graham, and drafted Keyshawn at #1, and then wastes the first pick in round 2 on another WR Van Dyke.

Position of need is right--After passing on Reed, Boobway "fills" the need at safety by grabbing Jon McGraw. Glad boobway is out.

Ahman Green was in the 3rd round, hine ward in the third round, az-zahir hakim in the 4th round, and the list goes on and on we have a knack for scouting out bums
