March 1, 2007 Home > The Way We Hear It > Whispers ~ ~ While the Jets re-signed CB Hank Poteat because he?s a trusted veteran, we hear that they are not sold on him as a starter. Word is if the Jets go into training camp with Poteat as a starter opposite Andre Dyson, they will be disappointed. > http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+Way+We+Hear+It/Whispers/2007/whispers2201.htm
Poteat is a pretty good player to have on your roster. However, if he is your starting CB; you're in trouble
we'd be disappointed? what a newsflash. does anyone have more info about Eric Wright? i'm curious about his past -- why he got in trouble, transferred, etc. based on the scouting report, he looks like the complete package, and the only improvement he needs is footwork, which can be taught, and probably grasped in a short amount of time (depending on intellect and work ethic). anyone got the scoop? cheers
Here's a link to how he did at the combine. Plus a few other tidbits. He's sure worth keeping an eye on. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=15720
Haha you took the words from every Jets fan. While most of us like Poteat and what he brings to the Jets...Him as a starter for a season would not be good. Let him be a Nickel or Dime back...
i think we should come out of the quote unquote norm and draft a 6'0 or little bit taller corner back so we could defend the taller receivers in the league
oh yeah what about that guy we signed from the patriots just recently what do you all think his role will be on the team. is he a legit corner or are we just looking at him for special teams
newsflash:if chad pennington and kellen clemens break their throwing arms high fiving eachother, the jets are prepared to sign drew bledsoe and it wouldnt leave them happy
That would be awesome. Regardless, I would like to see them use one of their first 3 picks on a CB and at least make the competition for a starting spot that much tougher.
He'd better, because I've got a feeling that if he doesn't, he'll step up in training camp and get cut. -X-
Assuming Barrett is not with the Jets going into camp, which seems to be a real possibility, it will likely be: 1. Dyson 2. D.Coleman 3. Miller 4. Poteat. Coleman is liked by the organization more than people realize. I think they know they rushed him last season and are going to be a bit more circumspect this time around.
