I honestly think we stay at #25 and draft Antonio Pittman, RB Ohio State. Having a late pick in the draft and rb being a big need, I say we take him. 5'11 195lbs had 1300 yards and 14 TD's last year in a predominate passing offense. He ran a 4.4 40 at the combine and looked in great shape. If not Turner, I like him. Sign A. Thomas as a free agent, and take a chance on Pittman. Turner will cost crazy money, he will want a long term deal, ala Lamont Jordan, when we trade for him. The #25 pick wont be as pricey. So. then use the 2nd rounder on a DT, and DE, this draft is DEEP on DE's. Just a thought going into this weekend. any comments? Mantana, Jabba?

Just a thought, and no, im not stupid, he had a great combine and no running backs are a lock, by the way, if yer gonna post that , have something to back it up. Good running back, big school, great competition, solid performance.

The highest Pittman is projected to go is the 3rd round. Why take him at 25?

Didnt realize you were one of those people who go by projections. I just think this kid has a great upside and at #25, the top tier "projected" backs will be gone. He will not fall to the 3rd. Im a believer in best available that late in the round, and I think this kid is the real deal.

After much thought I feel the JETS need to draft TE Greg Olsen. Pair him up with Baker, Coles, and Cotchery and the JETS passing game looks legit. Then the JETS can get another player from Ohio State, this time at running back in Antonio Pittman.

If it went that way, id agree, with Olsen first. Just dont think TE is a priority, but the passing game would be big with that. AND being a firm believer in best available, i agree. Ive been watching Pittman, 2 weeks ago, he was a projected first rounder, then had a great combine, so im not sure why his stock is falling, but i will say, this kid has it all. Very shifty, great breakaway speed, and good hands. Doesnt take the big hits either, much like Curtis Martin was, but with speed.

Pittman would be a equal value pick at #59, he won't last until our pick in the third round.

I say TE Greg Olsen or DE Adam Carriker would be great picks in the 1st round and we have a shot of them being there.

Also, CB Marcus McCauley, OG Justin Blalock or RB/FB Brian Leonard At #38.

At #59 OT Doug Free or Pittman.

Then at #90 I like QB Kevin Kolb (yes a QB), or WRs Jason Hill, Paul Williams or Dallas Baker. Kolb showed arm strenghth and accuracy at the combines and he could be our #3 QB this year.

Sleeper Pick late in the draft is the mountain himself, DT Walter Thomas 6-4, 370 lbs, from NW Missouri CC. He is the next Ted Washington or Pat Williams. He is quick for a young kid that size. He is worth a 6th or 7th round pick just in hopes that he could be a roadblock in our 3-4..

after a combine like that there is no way hes a 3rd rounder. id seriously consider using the 1st second round pick on him

If we get a RB, it should be either...

-A bigger back to compliemtn Leon Washington
    OR
-A full time RB who can carry the ball 25+ times.

I don't think Antonio Pittman would fill either of those needs.

Though we all guess-ulate & speculate....Whatever Jets' didn't cover in free agency.....Thats what draft has to address. So, by this time next week....we'll all have a better picture of what Jets' needs are.

Oh my god what is with the TE love in the first round? TE is presently the least of our worries. You have to actually THROW the ball to the TE for him to make an impact. When passes were thrown to Baker last year he came up handsomly.

I'll throw my chair out a window and then follow the chair if we WASTE our first round pick on a TE. Hell, I'd rather have the FB from Rutgers that most of you are already felating in the first round, over a TE.

The west-coast no huddle offense is made for a quicker soft handed TE that can get 80 catches a year. Look at Gates and Gonzales. We could use a TE that would be used as one of the main targets.

Olson is faster than three of the top six WRs in the draft but a lot bigger than any of them. He ran a 4.5 on grass and comes from a very good football school.
    Greg Olsen 6-5, 255 4.50 Miami

A list of the top six WRs:
    *Calvin Johnson 6-5, 235 4.35 Georgia Tech
    *Ted Ginn 5-11, 185 4.32 Ohio State
    *Robert Meacham 6-2, 210 4.35 Tennessee
    *Dwayne Jarrett 6-5, 210 4.55 Southern California
    Dwayne Bowe 6-2, 220 4.55 LSU
    *Sidney Rice 6-2, 200 4.52 South Carolina

Also the top three WRs will be gone before we pick at #25, so Olsen would be the best WR or TE on the board.

With his size, speed, softhands and blocking ability, yes I would love him at #25. How many of you guys scream BPA each year? He would be the best BPA at #25!

Meanwhile, we'll forego taking a standout RG or RT (Ok guards USUALLY don't go in the first round) who is more of a priority for the offense? Plus, you can't expect to get the ball to your BPA TE if the pocket is rapidly collapsing on the right side, as the line is so damm weak. This of course could change if we address OL with a smart pickup in FA.

Also, we've seen the glaring weakness our team has in the OLB position along with DT- are you willing to take a gamble and hope to find someone of value who can immediately contribute in rounds 2 or 3?

I'd rather go with need at this point. BPA means that you are one player away from the big dance, that all other needs have been addressed. We're pretty far from that point. BPA positions I would NOT look at in the first round obviously include either kicker, C, LG, LT, DE, WR & TE. Everyone else is fair game.

I'd like Blalock but I see Dallas jumping on him at 22. He was a late 1st early 2nd pick, and he had a great combine posting 40 reps on the bench and has the versatility to play RG or RT. Dallas fans are sick of former GB Pro Bowler Marco Rivera cause he repeteadly jumps off sides and kills drives. they had enough rookies and nobodys step up and with larry allens age I think theyre looking for more depth at G.

then again I hope someone like Meachem falls to us or Carriker(wont happen) I might even jump on Spencer though.

the way i see it im all for olsen if we can get him . Becuase the fact is this Schottenhiemer(sp?) knows how to use a BIG Time TE..he comes from a offense taht had a big Time TE so he would know how to use olsen and make him real threat.that being said we will be lucky to get olsen @ #25. Pittman wpould be a perfect candidate for our 1st 2nd rd pick..

my dream draft at the moment would be

Carriker or Tank in rd 1, Pittman and woodley in rd 2. the jets still have 2 TEs in kaslowski and kid from wisconson who they are supposbly high on and a realistic shot at getting Graham if they want.

If you look at all the succesful West Coast Offenses, they always had their OL in place before the weapons. The 49ers, the originators of the west cosat offense, had one of the best lines ever during their 80's run. Montana had days to find his man.

What we HAVE to draft is OL help. THe line was servicable at best last season and to run a succesful WCO, we need to make it 10 fold better.

With all that said however, should Marshawn Lynch by some grace of god fall to us at 25, we simply cannot pass him up.

You guys can debate whether the Jets should take Greg Olsen all you want. Doesn't matter who wins the debate because it is not going to happen.
