ok first off let me say that i am well aware that the chances of landing willis would be at best slim. Theirs probably no chance that willis would get traded to a division rival, and he will not be released so the jets wouldn't be able to attain him on the open market but that brings me to two questions. A) what would it take to land him, IE: 1st rder, 2nd rder etc. B) if we were to land him, would he be the answer to our running back problems, dont forget he is also going into a contract year. personally, like many people, would love to have him on the team, but would be wary of his inmjury problems and durability. I would also would only feel comfortable if he signed on for a multi year deal, if he entered this season knowning he was going to hit the open market after this season, we may have to enter a very unfriendly bidding war in the offseason, especially if he thrives. thoughts.....
here's a fun fact. Willis McGahee only had two 100 yard games this season. Both of them against none other than the New York Jets. McGahee just rips up the Jets. That's why some Jets fans have been overrating him.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Just hope he goes to an NFC team so we only have to see him once every 4 years or whatever.
He wouldn't have said it otherwise slick. McGahee is a good back, just not what the Jets need. Micheal Turner please!
but buffalo was a bad team, that got behind and had to throw. mcgahee is a nice player, that may present value due to stats being under representative of his talent
ok, so your saying that mcgahee didn't get enough carries and therefore didn't have that many yards. Well... his average was 3.8 yards per carry. Leon Washingtons? 4.3. hmy: EDIT: In fact, Willis McGahee's average over the last three years has been a rather laughable 3.9 yards per carry and has had only 11 TD's in the last two years.
Buffalo's line absolutely blows. McGahee is young enough, big enough, and strong enough to be a great feature back for someone. That said, I don't want him.
Buffalo's line was terrible at the beginning of the year. Towards the end, they were pretty decent. Losman had time to throw and Jason Peters has developed into a nice LT.
This will never happen, the Bills would never trade a RB like McGahee to the Jets, a divisional opponent.
Peters did become a decent LT, but I don't think that line as a whole was anything. Losman was up and down all year, ending up a pretty good NFL QB statistically at the end of the season. Even then I'm starting to agree with you, McGahee doesn't impress me all that much.
The best thing about the Mcgahee news is that a Jet killer is potentially leaving the division. I welcome that, but want no part of him on the Jets.
Yeah, I think there is a very slim chance he actually leaves Buffalo. Then there is an even slimmer chance he goes to a division rival.
I say give a 3rd rounder for McGahee. Much better value than our 1st rounder for Turner. McGahee is a very good receiving back and we have seen him play, Turner is still a questionmark is some areas. McGahee for a third rounder is a steal!
He's a really mediocre back. He stacked up the yards against us and STILL couldn't get 1,000. No thank you. -X-
The only way I would want McGahee on the Jets is if we also get to secure the future rights to all of his illegitimate children.
