I hope people list the guys who we should be watching for during the combine Here are 2 guys I would like more info on 1. LB Zak DeOssie 2. DE Daniel Bazuin here's a good site to get the information from during the combine http://www.nflcombine.net/
# 1 Jay Moore (DE/OLB) 6'5", 275 lbs, Nebraska This may seem like a huge reach now but I have a very very strong feeling it won't be after the combine. Moore himself has said that he plans to dispel he also seeks to dispel a myth: "There's a stereotype of white defensive ends that they're not necessarily athletic, that they're overachievers, that they just make plays out of hustle." I've told you guys about him back in October. He's moved into many scouts' radars as of the Senior Bowl, and I bet after the Combine he's considered a legitimate 1st day pick.
Well, I guess you're entitled to your opinion, but I think we've got other pressing needs before that position.
Both guys are mid round guys, there's really no order to it. Although, it looks like DeOssie could be a better fit for us being that he's a 3-4 LB'er
Brandon Mebane - if he can be our NT AND we can get him with our first or second second rounder, that really frees up our draft A LOT.
Mebane has been a 4-3 undertackle, or penetrating tackle his whole career. If anything he'd be an end for us.
The combine should not be moving people up on the first day except in the process whereby other people move down. That's how you get mistakes like D-Rob on the 4. Everybody at the combine has at least two years of results in the NCAA to look at. That's what should largely determine their draft position. That they jump an inch higher than everybody else in a single drill or run a tenth of a second faster than they have ever shown should have no effect other than to sort them out in the basic groups that they have already established via live play over a period of time. Benchpressing a heavy weight a large number of times? Well that would win them a strongman competition but it will not help them on the field unless it's already doing so. Anybody who comes into the combine projected as a late first round pick and then gets drafted in the top of the first is a huge mistake for the team that takes them.
I REALLY want to see how Kenneth Darby runs. I like him much better than Bush. He's got the traditional build you want in a RB, and he runs with some good power, and has decent speed (4.5). This guy might be the third/fourth best RB in this class. He's one of the few RBs after Peterson/Lynch that could potentially become a stater at the NFL level. I also want to see how Tyrone Moss looks and runs. If this guy stays in shape, he's a top 5 RB in this class. I like his pro potential alot.
I don't know what it is about Revis, but for some reason, I'm the exact opposite. I really think he's going to be a bust and I'm not sure why. If we draft him, I hope he proves me wrong haha.
Not always. What about Cutler? Seems to have worked out well for the Broncos showing flashes of being a top QB. I get what you're saying that the Combine may have too much influence but if it wasn't important it wouldn't hold as much value with people who are actually paid to do what we talk about on message boards. It shouldn't be the only deterimining factor but it should play a role in evaluating prospects.
