Besides the news Link DW gave us, i cant find any other article about this. Not in NFL.com or even NYJ.com .. For some reason im begining to wonder if him moving to the Jets is final or are they still trying to work out the contract?

February 15, 2007 -- The Jets are raiding Bill Belichick's New England coaching staff, according to multiple NFL sources.

The Jets are set to hire Brian Daboll, who has coached the Patriots' receivers for the past five seasons after spending the previous two as a defensive assistant under Belichick.

It's uncertain what Daboll's title will be, however, since Noel Mazzone is the Jets' receivers coach.

It's possible, though, that Daboll will be used in an offensive-assistant-head-coach role of some sort, since that would be a title upgrade to his position in New England, something that would be required unless Belichick simply didn't want him back.

Jets officials did not return phone calls last night seeking comment.

Eric Mangini, who coached with Daboll from 2000 to 2005 as an assistant in New England, is high on him, as evidenced by an unsolicited compliment he made earlier this past season.

"I think that Brian does an outstanding job with receivers," Mangini said prior to the first Jets-Patriots meeting in 2006. "Brian has always done an outstanding job with receivers and it's a very good staff and it's a very good group of players."

Those players Mangini referred to included New England WRs Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney, both of whom hurt the Jets and developed into solid receivers under Daboll's watch.

Daboll was originally recommended to Belichick by Nick Saban, for whom he worked as a graduate assistant at Michigan State.

Though it appears they won’t lose a coordinator for the first time in three years, the Patriots [team stats] are still expected to take a hit to their coaching staff this offseason.
A league source last night confirmed that wide receivers coach Brian Daboll is leaving after seven years to take an unspecified job with the New York Jets [team stats].
Daboll, 31, oversaw a wide receiving corps that transformed itself from liability to weapon this past season in the wake of Deion Branch’s departure. He helped coach Reche Caldwell [stats] and Jabar Gaffney [stats] into effective targets for Tom Brady [stats] as the Patriots fell one minute shy of the Super Bowl.
A native of Ontario, Daboll rode the Nick Saban shuttle from Michigan State to Foxboro in 2000. He spent his first two years breaking down film as a defensive assistant before being promoted to wide receivers coach in 2002.
Earlier this year, coach Bill Belichick praised Daboll’s smooth shift from college to the pros.
“It was as good a transition as I’ve been around,” Belichick said. “Brian was actually more on top of some stuff than we were. He understands the game and works hard. He does a good job with the players he’s coached, getting them prepared and making sure they understand not only what we’re doing, but what our opponents are doing and how to deal with it.”
The Jets seem to have a relatively full staff, though they’ve experienced some turnover. Tight ends coach Richie Anderson left to join Ken Whisenhunt in Arizona, while there are rumblings that defensive line assistant Bryan Cox could be on his way there as well. However, the Cardinals yesterday hired Iowa’s Ron Aiken to coach the D-line.
And Jets defensive backs coach Corwin Brown, a former Patriots DB, left to become Charlie Weis’ defensive coordinator at Notre Dame.
One potential job with the Jets is quarterbacks coach.

I'm not a big fan of the rumor mill at profootballtalk.com but they had this blurb on Daboll.

THE REAL DEAL ON DABOLL

There has been much confusion over the past few days regarding why and how the Jets were able to pilfer Pats assistant coach Brian Daboll, who most recently coached the team's receivers and previously was a defensive assistant.

Per a league source, Daboll wanted to be the quarterbacks coach, and head coach Bill Belichick declined the request.

Coincidentally, Daboll's contract was expired. And so he left.

Still doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but you figure between these two organizations we will probably never know the truth. So now I guess Mazzone will remain as WRs coach and Daboll will possibly become the QB coach...

Thats awesome. Now we know Clemens will be taken care of. Thats the one thing that bothered me, that we did not have a QB coach.
