Do you guys think Justin Miller 'screwed' us out of Vince Young?

I never said he would start. But he is a quality backup for whatever young guy (hopefully rivers) we bring in. And if the young guy doesn't impress, he's there to step in. But do I expect him to start? No. Do I think he can succeed at the starting position if the new guy doesn't impress? Yes, he impressed me this season in the preseason and in his game time against KC and Jax. We just need to concentrate on RB and OL positions right now for FA and the Draft.
And PS, we aren't rebuilding, we are retooling.

I don't want to retool. That implies that we have some tools already - We don't! Our offense is completely devoid of tools. We need to rebuild.

We have an entirely new coaching staff and will probably be cutting half the team and you think we are retooling?

nonono. We were retooling in 2003 after Chad went down in the preseason. Retooling takes one year. We are rebuilding, and it will take at LEAST two years. There are way too many wholes to fill on this team, and with the impending cap hits we will have to take with some of these cuts, it's impossible to do it in one year. We likely have 2 gaping OL wholes, QB, RB, DL, and possibly secondary issues that need to be addressed. No way in hell is that retooling.

Hah. that's exactly the point I'm getting at.

Retooling?? If we were retooling, Herm Edwards would still be our head coach.

I wouldn't get too upset over it...I agree with everything you just said. Rob is either not very smart or is just hoping for no rebuilding...

MisterMoss - just noticed your signature. Wow! You think even Belicheck was able to keep a straight face when he said that? For some reason I can just picture him cracking up at the "unique talent package" part.

haha...we just agreed with each other at the same time. Maybe that means Jay Fiedler IS finally ready to step up and lead this team?! Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

Before the site collapsed last week, we had a thread with memorable Herm Edwards quotes, but SundayJack, who lives in the New England area, spilled his coffee when he heard BB say that over the radio. He couldn't help but mention it in that thread. I can't believe he said that myself.

Actually, if they don't draft a QB (or even if they do), and Pennington can't play worth a damn, then Feidler isn't a bad solution for a single season. He's better then Aaron Brooks or Kerry Collins.

Ok guys, here me out here.

The 05 jets if healthy would've gone atleast 10-6, you can't deny that. We just need to patch up the RB and QB and some spots at OL positions in FA and the draft, fiedler could even hold the QB fort down for a year if necessary, better than most of the current FA's (do you honestly feel more confident in kerry collins starting on this team over fiedler?!). We have already taking care of our pathetic coaching staff, we are set there. The 06 jets will make a run, we just need to make some smart off-season moves. Get a stud RB and QB and we are set for 06. We already have a quality D, so there is no way we won't be competitive if we don't make the necessary moves. You don't go from AFC Championship caliber to dumpster in 2 years! We had injuries last year, we stay healthy and make the right off-season moves, and we are AFC East champs in 06 and a good shot at XLI, nuff said!

weak argument for anything. cant blame a return man on place in the draft. plus who knows if D'Brickshaw or AJ Hawk or MR. Random in the 12th round turns out making VYoung and Cutler look like bad ideas.

We can get mad at him for fumbling and not covering.. not Draft status. and then we can get mad at JETS MGMT if they have a choice in Young or Cutler and take Cutler...

No way. If healthy, we could've gone 10-6 easy. But no team is ever healthy, so don't count on that.

We just need to patch up RB and QB??? Is it really that easy? If we do get a rookie QB, how do you expect him to lead up to XLI?

Can we see Mangini make one in game decision as a head coach before we anoint him as savior??

Getting a Stud QB and RB in the same offseason is highly unlikely.

Our D isn't as good as you think it is. We still have not clue what our base defense is going to be, and as of now, our #2 CB is justin Miller. So let's wait to see if he's fully capable to play at that level before we start dreaming of XLI.

Heh. So like, we're just going to magically have a great offensive line, right?

Actually Fiedler is bad for one season...he is exspensive and he had a serious injury to his throwing arm. We can get someone cheaper, younger and healthier to do the same job...and get more $$ in return

Dur? Didn't you know we are getting a Stud RB and STUD QB this offseason? We don't need no Sticking Offensive line!

That will be taken care of as well, but the current o-line, if healthy, is fine. So it only needs a few changes.

How so? Fabini is horrible and will be cut. Mawae is not going to take a pay cut, and he's gone. I'd guess Kendall will restructure and stick around for another year. Here is your current offensive line: Jones-Goodwin-Kendall-Moore-Morley. That line is awful. Goodwin and Morley are absolute trash. Kendall is below average at center. Jones and Moore are the only things about that line that are atleast average.
