I was just saying the man will be rich either place he goes. Miami seems closer to a championship at the moment.
That's probably the case, but if you are asked...do you want 70 Million dollars or 60 Million dollars? I know what the answer would be everytime.
We don't know if that rumor is true...can you show me a link of that contract? Because I haven't seen a reliable source yet...
Well, loads of guys have taken less money for personal reasons, so who is to say that Brees wouldn't? In any event, it's not $50M or $60M anyway, since these contracts are always backloaded. The only money that Brees is guaranteed is the signing bonus and the first year's salary. It's obvious that if healthy Brees is a tremendous upgrade at QB for the Fins - he finished in the top 10 in the league in passing yards and top 5 in TDs. As usual, winston has it right - if he's healthy, he's a solid QB.
Yeah, but don't forget you have to live where you play. Would you rather make 70 mil and have to live in flooded out depressing New Orleans, or 60 million and live in South Beach? 7-8 years could be 10% of your life. It's a fair point.
Never said the actual deal was 60 or 70...I was commenting on NYJ2K6's comment that he would take 60 million over 70 if he thought he had a better chance at a superbowl...
I'd take more money and try and be part of quite possibly one of the greatest turnarounds in American history. PS: Drew Brees doesn't have to live in New Orleans.
I understand that - I was responding to several posts at once. The reason I brought that up is that it's unlikely that the difference between the two contracts would really be $10M anyway. And, as I said earlier, I don't agree with your basic premise that people will always go for more money, since there are many cases where it isn't what has happened. When you're going to have more money than you'll ever need for the rest of your life, the intelligent person looks at other issues as well.
I'd go to South Beach and buy a convertable.......or 10. I'd also set up one of those TVs that pops up near the pool. Then I'd make a drink with an umbrella in it, get in the pool, and turn on CNN so I can follow New Orleans turnaround.
True on the money, but I believe Drew has already been quoted saying he would love to be a part of rebuilding New Orleans...So I don't think being in New Orleans will change his decision...
haha...sounds good But like I said...Brees wouldn't have to live in New Orleans...he could live in South Beach and have all those things you were tlaking about and still help out the saints...
This could be very bad or very good for us. It depends on whether he recovers from his injury and plays like he used too, or becomes a chad.
Your lifestyle would'nt change one bit with the extra 10 million unless you blew 60 million, then that 10 mill would come in handy!
I'd rather see Brees in Miami than Culpepper. While he has been a good QB, he doesn't inject fear in defenses. Throw in that he had an average arm before being injured and I'll take our chances.
The big problem appears to be the money up front. I've read that Brees is looking for a $10 mil bonus and Miami is reluctant to come up with that with his shoulder. If NO steps up to the plate and guarantees it, Brees might surprise everyone and sign there. If I were the Saints, I'd do it. They need someone to mount a campaign around to sell tickets--no matter where they play. Incidentally--it's still not a sure bet that the Saints won't end up in San Antonio--and Brees is from Texas.
