Other teams ? both New York franchises among them ? have made it known they are interested in Turner. The question is whether one of them will try to entice Turner from Smith before seeing what tender Turner receives. As a restricted free agent, Turner will get a tender from the Chargers ? either a second-round, a first-round or a first-and-third-round tender. Those tenders would guarantee him approximately $1.3, $1.8 or $2.5 million, respectively, and require any team signing him to a long-term contract to give the Chargers a corresponding draft pick or picks. If Smith were to give Turner a first-or second-round tender, it is likely teams would be lining up to try to sign him. > i " borrowed " this from another fan site . .
We'll see ..... to early, and let's wait for the smoke sceans to visit us. We DO, however, need a work-horse running back, Sure, we can get one in the draft, but a proven NFL starter would be nice ,,,, a shut down CB in the FA market as well, then we can focus on the O and D lines in the draft. Hell: we have the cap space. Oh yea ,,, we also need a pass rusher.
Maybe they view him the same way we view Leon and Cedric. I would think Jacobs could carry the load but maybe they want a finesse guy to complement? Is Turner more finesse then bruiser? I have not seen enough of him to say.
I'd prefer the Giants save their picks, draft a back in the middle rounds, and give Jacobs a chance to start.
Let the Giants have'em.....dont understand why so many pple on this board want Turner so bad.....he's not worth the 1st rd pick IMHO
he has the talent & skill to be a very good player. all he needs is a chance to play. if we can get him for one 1st rounder > do it !
I think Turner is probably one of the best back ups in the league and he would be starting on any team besides the Chargers, Chiefs, etc. However, with so much depth in this draft, I would not give up anything more than our late 2nd rounder.,I would reluctantly pull the trigger at the first 2nd rounder. However, only if nobody was there.
