Strange career. He's got a huge leg and an accomplished college career but hasnt been able to stick anywhere in the pros despite some big investments (4th round pick and traded)
Right now, Interior OL feels like a glaring hole. I'd love to draft the G out of Penn St at 16. Blue chip IOL prospects are never a bad idea. We also need to sign a G as a starter as well. Need two starters.
We signed Dylan Parham at left guard, former Raiders left guard. 2/20 The good news is he graded out to be seven points higher than John Simpson, the bad news is that’s a low bar and the Raiders had the worst offensive line in the league. Oh and they were protecting our new quarterback. I will say that probably made him look worse than he was. Playing next to Olu is going to help. I do like that he’s only 26, he’s probably not a long-term solution but if we get lucky and he breaks out he’s under contract next year. Consensus is that he’s an upgrade over Simpson but nothing more than average. I’ll take it. We don’t have to pigeonhole ourselves into taking IOL with the first four picks.
Per Hughes only $8ish mil is guaranteed. So this is more like a one year, $8 million deal, Pretty good for a starting caliber guard.
Connor Hughes reporting the deal is even better than that: @Connor_J_Hughes The #Jets have agreed to terms with G Dylan Parham, sources tell @snytv . The actual monetary value of the contract: 2 years, $16 million with $7.49m guaranteed. Team-friendly deal for Darren Mougey and #NYJ. Seems like a good price for a likely starter. As you mention, came from a bad OL, but who knows how much of that was him. Experienced, versatile and still young. Would be curious to get more of a scouting report, but sounds like a guy who can start at LG or be a great interior depth piece. Decreases the pressure on taking an IOL but doesn't eliminate the chance if the right prospect is there.
Hopefully, just like our players go on to other teams and become world beaters, maybe this guy leaves Vegas, comes to us and becomes an All-Pro! Hey, it's pre-start of the 2026 season, you know, the Jets bestest and most favorite time of the year! I can wish can't I?
Eh the Parham signing is a bit puzzling. He was a part of that putrid Raiders offensive line last year. He personally was credited with 6 sacks allowed (78th/81st for all guards) and they had zero interior push. Jenkins from the Packers would’ve been a better signing. Parham is also awfully light to be playing guard at 285.
And he got a big contract with the Colts! This is great b/c the Jets have one of the Colts 2027 1st round picks. Jets' Micheal Clemons finds new home in free agency
I read that article...why does it feel like he had a hell of a lot more penalties than 10 in his 4 years here?? Damn, it felt like he was a penalty a game.

Jenkins signed with the Browns yesterday. I’d hope we made an offer but he also got paid more. Not that I think money should be holding us back from plugging starter holes with good players. Parham grading out higher than our last starter while playing in a much much worse situation is promising. Simpson was bad and he got paid more, and for longer. I’d much rather have it this way.
Metchie to the Panthers. Really don’t understand why we didn’t bring him back. Is Isaiah Williams the answer? I know we have the draft coming but we need 2-3 WRs including a WR2. This is the one area that’s been sorely mid managed so far. Jets ignoring the receiver position… time is a flat circle.
There were all those times he got fooled by the QB running right around him and other dumb mistakes. They felt like penalties.
I am naive in thinking perhaps they asked Geno his thoughts on Parham before they made them an offer. The whole OL of the Raiders was bad.
Parham seems like an ok deal at 1 yr 8 million. Guards seem to be getting paid pretty good this year--I recall not too long ago we could pick up a one-year guy for about 3 million or less.
