Exactly! That’s also a huge reason why, in a totally different scenario, I want ZERO to do with Kyler Murray. To me, the QB HAS to be the leader. You need to be a leader of MEN. You need to command the huddle. You need to set the tone. YOU need to be the example. YOU need to be the one to DEMAND the other MEN work just as hard as you. It’s why Kyler Murray will NEVER win anything…he doesn’t WANT it…he doesn’t LIVE EAT and BREATHE it. How can he demand the best out of the other guys when he’s slacking the fuck off. Fuck that noise. Brady is the best example of this kind of guy who lives the shit every minute. So this Chambliss kid…it’s not the same issue as Murray as far as I know with work ethic and leadership, but it’s kind of in the same ballpark. It’s a lack of confidence, of ego, of whatever you want to call it. Namath is the best example of the confidence, or swagger, or ego, whatever you want to call it, but without being a cocky arrogant douche, Namath KNEW he was the man, and he KNEW he could do it. What Chambliss is doing going so far as to file a lawsuit…ugh that’s the complete opposite. That’s a little kid who KNOWS he can’t make it here so he wants to go back and get another payday playing against younger kids. Just a bad look. To me… I could be wrong, but to me, with a QB, SO MUCH of the game is between the ears that all of these things are important. If he was a different position maybe it’s not as critical, but for a QB, it bugs the shit out of me. Enough to say fuck off and move on.
Take a shot in the fourth round … Allar, the LSU kid…. Somebody in that realm. Low price, potential high reward. If it doesn’t work you have 2027 and probably a new coaching staff anyway….
You know, I'm not sure how I feel about Allar. Penn State QB's, in general, have been more or less shit for as long as I can remember. Kerry Collins was the best of them. The rest have been never was's or career backups. But I'm open to it. No one says history can't be changed. Hell, we're Jets fans, we're COUNTING on history being able to change. LOL
Other than the age of Demario, and that's really small and more of a nit pick, Mougey did alright today. I'd have liked to have seen at least some interest in offense but we weren't paying some of these insane salaries. Linderbaum was really the only piece I'd have like to have seen but he's not worth that, IMO.
Why was he hired as a HC when he wasn't even a good DC in Detroit? He did improve from 31st to 21st as a DC in Detroit. . Maybe he can improve the Jets defense another 10 spots to 11th now that he will be calling the plays? One bright spot about him is that he fired all of his coaches that he picked himself. At least he did the right thing there since they all sucked and didn't doubled down. A glimmer of hope?
Hey, the man got an "A" grade on that players' report card thing that we took oh so seriously when Woody got his F's... Why would a grade "A" coach have an impending downfall? I don't understand /s
I like the Fitzpatrick and Davis pickups. Both look like solid base hits. No home runs in free agency so far. In the last 12 months we list Sauce, Quinnen, Quincy, AVT, Johnson, and Folk. Before that we lost guys like DJ Reed and John Franklin Meyers. Really need to score big in free agency or the draft if we want to climb out of the cellar. With AVT coming on board it doesn't look like the Patriots are going to slow down from last year.
I have been extra pumped by moves made by our previous GMs. I will temper my excitement and wait for final results to play out. I appreciate Mougey is a silent dealer and fully in control of his decision making. He has made some shrewed decisions
To be fair to Chambliss, it's mainly a money issue. I heard a detailed analysis (with numbers, unlike my analysis) and he can really cash in on one more year of college play. On the other hand, if he falls to a late round in the draft, he likely won't do so well financially.
The Fitzpatrick trade was incredible. Mougey traded away nothing for a top player. He picked the pockets of the Dolphins.
My initial reaction is liking what he's done this free agency. The defense got a lot of professional players, some experienced leaders, and most who play good run defense and are high-effort guys. The floor has been raised and hopefully begins a shift in culture. I really like the Fitzpatrick trade and Belton signing. And I like the players they added at edge and DL (more so Ossai and Oneymata), but the cost seemed high for what they are. I like the Demario Davis signing too, but the downside is it really being probably a one or maybe two-year option. Overall, I like what he's doing. Master of the trade market
Mougey is just a JAG until we start looking like a competitive team. NYJ fans are so quick to crown people before results. Let's be realistic here, no?
