That's the biggest concern. They were definitely scheming to win early and didn't win. Now we are saying they didn't scheme to win on purpose. But how about scheming not to lose by 28? After the 1st quarter they didn't have to worry about winning. No, I am afraid they are scheming like armatures because they are armatures. And we need some real coaches here.
Coaches don't scheme for JaSir Taylor, Sam Womack, Keidron Smith, Mykel Walker and Eric Watts and end up getting results. I promise you.
Even on the broadcast the commentators noticed these shitty schemes. Like a shotgun on 4th and short, etc... We suck man, and yes we did have some scrubs there, and so did the Bills, but by 28 looking like that? For 5 games in a row. Setting NFL records for ineptitude. Come on, you know it's not just the roster.

How short a leash? 5 games? One more season? What do you expect in that time? How is he an asset for a potential franchise QB in the draft? He’s going to have one hell of a time finding a DC even because of that short leash you mentioned. There’s a really good chance they’re going to just remove the interim tag from Chris Harris and make him the DC because no one is going to take that job otherwise. The talent acquisition is the responsibility of the GM. It’s literally the only thing you tried stating as Glenn’s value to the team and it’s not even his job.

When Shefty said yesterday Glenn is safe, while McDermott and MacDaniels might end up getting fired, he was laughing. We have become a disrespected laughingstock even more than before. You are a long time fan, go to almost every game, make a huge trip, to get embarrassed, is this what you want? An outlier of all outliers to try this again? I guess we will have to accept this (still hoping for a miracle), but it's just brutal with this coach.
We are most definitely 28 points worse than the Bills backups when you consider the QB we were starting shouldn't even be playing the sport. The offense can't move the ball because the QB is completely inept, the defense is starting guys that should be bagging groceries with the QB, you're gonna get rocked. Mitch Trubisky, Ray Davis, Gabe Davis, Dawson Knox, Ty Johnson, Tredavious White would have all started for the Jets this year. Those are the "backups" we were playing btw.
The roster is atrocious so if you’re playing real teams and their starters, it’s logical the jets will get crushed. The problem is yesterday, the bills had players playing off the street and other players who have zero regular season snaps and not only did the jets get absolutely crushed, they didn’t even look like they wanted to be there. I think both of you are correct. Roster is bad and also coaching is bad. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

See my post above. Most guys that were playing for the Bills yesterday would start for the Jets a month ago. I wouldn't say he did nothing to the offense. I very much believe in Tanner Engstrand because there's tangible evidence that we should. Our dogshit QBs left a TON on the field this season, tape shows it. We also had a 1000 yard runner for the first time in a decade. Whether or not it works out developing a rookie QB, who knows, but there's absolutely reason to believe the system works.
You are overvaluing these players and their roles in the game yesterday. Knox played 4 snaps. Gabe Davis has been let go by 2 teams the past calendar year and was inactive most games in Buffalo. He’s done nothing all year. Trubisky has been cut by at least 4 teams. Tre White was cut by 3 different teams the past year. Ty Johnson is a 3rd string running back. The jets had a lot of starters playing, much more than Buffalo. The game should’ve been much more equal than it was.
Everything you just said doesn't change the fact that all of those guys would start for the Jets even prior to tanking.
We had Olu, Membou, Simpson, Myers, Tipp, AD, Metchie, Ruckert, Phillips, Briggs, Quincy, Moore, Sherwood, JJ, we had our special teams, and others. Again, Buffalo had scrubs too. We were not 27 points worse, 27 points is insane number and could have been more too, but they spared us at the end and did not have a kicker either. Besides a lot of teams play scrubs at the end, yet we are the 1st team in the history of NFL to lose by 23+ points in 5 straight games. This NEVER happened before. We are historically bad, and it is both roster could be better, but coaching stinks too.
Very good post. In addition to all that the decision to trade Sauce "may" end up being a brilliant looking move a few years down the road and I find it hard to believe that Glenn as a former cornerback and defensive guy himself didn't weigh heavily into that move. Ugly in the short term doesn't always mean wrong in the long term.
If you are trying to be objective, we have a Bills fan here saying they had shit out against us. He knows his team better than any of us. They should not be winning by 27, with the game over in the 1st quarter, period. The commentators are laughing at our schemes for fuck's sake. I agree we need to improve to roster, but we also need to upgrade the coach, it's as clear as day.
It's really telling that the pro-Glenn people still haven't been able to name a single thing he does well as HC. It's all blind hope and blaming outside factors. Similar to how Woody views football - no concept of nuance. Just blaming or praising the entire franchise en masse with no concern for how the individual parts are doing.
