Father/Son football players

    In Aussie Rules Footy in the AFL Draft in Australia, a player can be drafted by the club that his father played for. That team gets first dibs on that plaeyr if they want to draft him but can let him go if he isnt any good. Do you think this should be the way it is in the NFL draft? has this ever come up before? would this work in the complicated draft system???

    Are there any Sons out there that were better than their famous dads who played???

    Well there have been plenty but the obvious answer right now is Archie Manning and his two boys...

    do you think that a son should be able to be picked by the team his dad played for most???

    its a very big thing in aussie rules footy for the son to be picked by his dads team (if he is any good).

    That wouldn't work here..Besides that would mean Eli Manning would be Peyton's back up in New Orleans.:smile:

    wouldnt it work because of the manning eg?? or because players move around teams so much???

    it would be interesting to see where the more high profile sons would end up?? ill have a look at that list when i get a moment to see....

    anthony dorsett was close to winning the sb for the raiders, kinda rooting for him. glad the bucs won!

    I dont think that the father/son rule used in the AFL wouldnt work in the NFL.
    I don't even like the rule here, but i see why it is implemented

    what if the player being drafted has a father who played for two teams?

    i could see teams going out and signing 45 year old guys so they get a chance at drafting top players. anyone know if adrian peterson's dad can throw harder than pennington?

    Jets had a chance to draft all three Jet offspring and passed.

    Thought they should've taken a chance on Klecko coming out of Temple where he was the Defensive Player of the Year in his conference. Wasn't a gigantic physical specimen, but he had the intangibles, and the bloodlines.

    Then when Beli took him, I really was pissed.

    Subsequently, Dan K. has not really done much, but he is working on his 3rd Super Bowl ring.

    Of the 3, only Marion Barber III looks like a better play than his dad. Though who knows what will happen with Gaffney now that he's in with Brady.
