Per every reporter on Twitter. Picks are in 2027

Love this move as small as it may be. Win win win win:

    Get rid of MC2
    Get a WR
    Get a better pick
    More time for Brownlee

Yah good move to trade a now redundant player for a role player at a position of need while turning a 7th round pick into a 6th round pick

under the radar move though there definitely was chatter about trading MC2

not sure what, if anything, Metchie will bring as he’s not made any impact at all with Philly and honestly I thought both Taylor and Williams played well last game, enough to warrant seeing more if them ahead of guys like Lazard and Reynolds, but adding a young wideout with potential is a good thing….lets see if any of these young guys can step up their game

    like the move

Metchie received similar second round grades as guys like George Pickens, Christian Watson, Jahan Dotson etc. in 2022. He gets to training camp his rookie year and is diagnosed with leukemia so he has to sit out the entire year to recover.

Good dart throw. Am I reading this right that we save $11 million each of the next two years on the cap?

Seems like a good move to me. Metchie is a interesting guy to develop

Metchie is a great, great guy. I believe Saban said he's everything you want in a wide receiver and player.

And he's dealt with some real heavy stuff. I believe his family bounced around from multiple countries. Then he finds a home at Alabama and lights up college football, and just when hes on top the world he tears out his knee. Gets drafted by the Texans and just when hes finally back from the knee, he gets diagnosed with Leukemia.

hes a guy you root for, regardless if hes on the Jets or not. and now he is a Jet

The difference between an Eagles 6th rounder and a Jets 7th rounder is negligible. If the Eagles finish in the top 4 and the jets the bottom 4, its worth at most 2 points on the value chart. Fake news.

I feel like this is an irrationally aggressive response.

Not to mention I believe they are 27' picks which means a lot could change both ways in that amount of time.

The official team announcement says the pick we gave them is 2026 in the pick we got back is 2027. So I guess we picked up an additional 2027 sixth rounder?

I liked Metchie out of college but the cancer hit really slowed him. He is on a 1 year contract so its basically a 9 game rental, though he is an RFA. Its all about the pick swap unless he somehow blows up.

I think Carter was clearly done here. He wasn't even good last year with the old regime and now he was clearly expendable. He's the one player I would have taken anything for and to get a pick swap, even if negligible, and a dart throw WR is a fine trade to me.

Honestly hope he's the last trade they make

I like it. Position of need, highly recommended by one of the best college coaches ever AND a high character guy. Folks that deal with that kind of adversity have no time for bullshit. I'll bet he's one of those "lunch pail" guys that just comes in and does his job. This team needs solid guys.

Not really, Basically Philly is only paying Carter 1.2 mil this year and only 1.38 mil is guaranteed next year. We are footing the bill and CAP aside from remaining 1.2 mil this year and 1.38 mil next year. So, a little bit of savings nut nothing big. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/72537/michael-carter-ii/contract/ . Plus we will pay 1 mil to Metchie.

This is a pretty good deal for Philly. They got what was a starter for us for several years for a 6th/7th round swap and 1 mil. That is a pretty good dart throw for them. The guy was one of the better slot corner in the NFL 2 years ago and played well for several years. Then after he got hurt and paid dropped off a cliff. Still young, so possible he can get back to form. Worth a mil in CAP and 6th for 7th swap. Especially since the 6th appears to be next year, while 7th this year, at least according to the Jets twitter. But even if it's a mistake, it seems they got the better end of the deal.

For us, I guess it's OK too. just because MC2 was going to leave next year regardless and wasn't playing well, and to me it's all about next year. However I was hoping to get at least a 6th this year. We only got a swap and even that next year. Metchie may have had had a 2nd round grade years ago, but is a nobody now. Did nothing for two teams in 3 years. Let's hope he's got something. Feels like we could have had a bit more for MC2, but I guess something is better than nothing.

I missed something relatively important: Metchie is RFA after this year, because he missed one year due to non football injury. Meaning if he is decent, we actually control him next year. That has some value that I originally didn't realize, since i thought he was going to be UFA. That does change the equation a bit where it probably evens out the trade. Let's hope Metchie is decent, then maybe we got something here.

If the picks are 2027 as stated, not 2026 we have zero clue what the standings would be two drafts from now. so no, no fake news there.
Beyond that, MC was a liability, so we are both taking a flier, and to say the WR is a nobody is ignoring the fact that his challenge was unfortunate injury and illness, not talent. The potential is there. Still unclear how little savings are there but what ever it is is better than nothing. Moving non contributors that are no longer in our future is never a bad move, specially getting a RFA with potential.
I for one will root for this kid. A lot to prove, and much to gain.
