Are you feeling what I'm feeling about the NY Jets fanbase?

Personally, I look back fondly to the teams of the 80s with the sack exchange and the rivalry with the Dolphins. Both teams were generally competitive. The Jets didn't get to the Superbowl and there were some massive disappointments...Mudbowl..., but those years were much better than what we've seen in the past 15 years.

Nania's spent the last two years cherry picking stats to hype the Jets, but now that nobody's reading his blog, he's trying a new tactic for views. Maybe it'll work out for him, but probably not.

Nobody's buying any hype about the Jets b/c of so many disappointments. I think that's a healthy development, frankly.

I still don't get this mentality.

Can't wait for the season. I just think It's wild that so many fans think we are going to flop and I still don't get the reasoning?

You think Fields flops? The coach sucks? Not enough talent?

    I don't get it.

Nania made a name for himself by peddling irrational exuberance and contorting random questionable stats to support his theories. He was proven wrong time and time again and many of his supporters, having been thrown off the careening turnip truck he drove downhill time and time again, have finally had enough and have spent this off season in hiding.

So be it. I doubt many have given up on the team - that's not what real fans do but they have finally bitten their tongues instead of running their mouths and are now in the only logical place for Jets fans - the land of "wait and see." It certainly has been a friendlier, less combative year here so far, let's hope that leads to a friendlier, more successful season.

At least Nania has finally given up on calling himself the world's greatest expert on the New York Jets even if he won't admit he has been dead wrong for years in predicting the outcome of the season forthcoming and slamming those who refuse to ride in his truck. This piece seems to indicate that his pay plan may have changed and rather than the cash flowing with every fanboi click he's now expecting to get paid by the word. Sheesh!

The combination of very low expectations, a hard-nosed, low-key QB, and maybe my favorite all-time player suddenly the head coach.

I'm not hyped, but I'm not apathetic at all. I feel strangely relaxed and happy about whatever's coming.

For me, after so many disappointments I feel like I
have acquired BJS (Battered Jets Syndrome) .
But every off season I think we are going to turn it around and I hope we do it this coming season.

Don't know my friend. I can't put my finger around it. Having such high expectations once we signed Rodgers and after we went 7-10 and 5-12, something died inside of me. I have to see something on the field to get excited again. I have high hopes about Fields and coach Glenn to be honest. But somehow, I am not even one bit excited about the upcoming season.

That’s amazing how much weight you lost. For me I just cannot lose the last 20 lbs. I don't think I will ever go back to my weight of 25 years ago.Even thought I do three 5 day water fasts a year.

I'm feeling more apathetic than ever toward this team. It's like meh, not really expecting anything and don't really care much.

It has been quiet. New York Post has been mostly silent. Only offering the "paid" subscription fans some scraps of news.

It must be the mountain of hype we have been fed over the years peaked with the Aaron Rogers experiment.

Now there is a vacuum of news left in its place.

Is AG really that good at clamping down on leaks and BS banter by our players to the sports writers?

Only good thing is the tickets for the home opener against the Steelheads are going at 3 times cost.

    I should sell.

For you it is all about the tailgate and seeing friends anyway. Sell the tickets to Steelheads and come over be my guest and let's watch the game at my house. I will cook Turkish kebabs and cigkofte for you :)

For me, it’s a few things…I wouldn’t say I’m totally apathetic…I DO still care and want to see this team win, I DO still watch all of the games, but I’m not feeling super confident that we will be a good team this year…

So in no particular order, while I also LOVED Glenn as a player, I am still kinda down on us choosing a first time DC for HC yet AGAIN…it’s like we only know how to do this, and it just NEVER works. We keep doing the same fucking thing over and over and over. This is an offense driven league, and team success in today’s NFL is 98% based on how good your QB is. The days of winning with defense and a strong running game are pretty much gone, and yes I know Philly used that template but they are a solid roster top to bottom and really more of the exception than the rule. So what do we do? Go defensive HC yet again. And while I do love Glenn, and I like that he’s a Parcells guy, and all the talk seems good, to me, it’s still just talk. We can talk about culture change all we want…it’s all meaningless until we get to see real results on the field. So while I appreciate the excitement and love for Glenn as our new HC, I just can’t get that excited about it anymore.

As to the roster, I think our WR room sucks balls outside of GW. He’s great and we better fucking sign him long term. Outside of that, we have a bunch of 3 and 4 WRs who are going to be WR2 and WR3 for us. Lazard is no better than WR3. The rest of our guys are scrubs that are really 4 and 5 type guys. I do like our RB room a lot and think Breece will bounce back this year. I’m very hopeful on our OL now that we have two young highly drafted OTs … if they can play up to their draft status, our OL should be no worse than average and hopefully better. That will be a huge win.

As to Fields, I’m not sold. I think he’ll make some nice plays with his legs and give us a few things to cheer for like that, but he has not shown that he can be an above average QB. So I’m doubtful on him. I hope he somehow develops and becomes a very good QB for us, but I wouldn’t bet my house on it.

On D, I think we should be above average…not sure about our DL which was a strength two years ago but now we still have no real great run stuffing DTs, and we are counting on JJ coming back from an Achilles injury to pair with McD…I think JJ will not come back to what he was this year…that’s a tough injury for any player that relies on explosion and “get off” type play. And McD can rush the passer but he feels more like a situational pass rusher than a full time DE because he can’t anchor on the run. I think our CB got worse by losing Reed, who I think was very underrated. I do like Wilks as DC though so I think that while we may not be a top 5 D like we were under Saleh a couple years ago, I do think we are probably like a top 10 - top 15 D, and maybe if the coaches can pull it together, like top 7 or 8 range.

So I’m not expecting a great year, probably we are still not a winning team…we’ll see and I hope I’m wrong, but that’s my state of mind right now going into training camp.

The sad thing about McDonald is that he would be best in a Bryce Huff role but he's a first rounder and not UDFA.

You're right. The new regime isn't pumping out the hype like the previous regime did. That makes a big difference. Expectations are low.
