My two cents for this season. All I expect out of the Jets this year is a strong indication on the field of play that we are going in the right direction, reflecting good leadership with a long term plan for a change. Show us competitive games to the end and not shoot ourself in the foot with completely undisciplined penalties and play execution. That is it. Don’t have expectations about how many wins/losses or making a play off run, but a year that leaves us with hope that the ship is finally steering in the right direction. Everything else is welcomed gravy. I have a world of confidence in AG to change this organizational culture once and for all and it starts now. But, having said that, there are games I’m particularly interested in seeing a superlative effort and a win, at least one against the Pats and Miami, and above all a win against the Steelers. Why the Steelers, because I’m absolutely sick of hearing about AR and the Jets, with the shameless outcome from the entire organization, from Woody to JD to Saleh to AR and his entourage after the pathetic set of accommodations allowed towards Rodgers, achieving nothing but an embarrassing poorly executed loosing season while pissing away draft picks and tons of cap space. May be wishful thinking but I want AG to start his coaching career with a resounding win on game one, surrounded by cheering fans welcoming him back. Hope for a tough and disciplined executed plan, one that sends a strong fuck you message to AR and the Steelers. A sign that the circus has finally left town.
Couldn't agree more LA, Feel exactly the same way. be physical, ready/prepared to play every week, have situational awareness, and be competitive. PS. Hope your not close to the riots (my son lives in ManBeach).
Good post, LA. Just field a competent team that shows effort and guts. And one that pounds that schmarmy fuk AR into the turf....
I have mixed expectations. i actually am a fan of fields and i think he will eventually be good and the team good enough to win a hefty portion of its games. but that word eventually. I do expect a slow start. once again, everything is new. how long before the "newness" turns to comfort? So I kind of expect a mixed season, not so good the first third, good, maybe 50/50 the middle third and quite good the last third. Where that winds up in terms or record....??????? Of course, injuries can kill anything.
I will be at the Jets Steelhead game. Taking my Steelhead fan brother in law. can’t wait to hear the thunderous BOOOOOOO when Roger’s comes out of the tunnel.
And I, too, couldn't agree more, LA! For me, the "wait & see" is how the core young Jets respond to AG. I'm looking to see the talent fill in the holes in their games. I read somewhere today that Sauce implied there will be more INTs this season. That's what I want to see, more development, & no cliches... and I'm feelin' hopeful AG will walk his teaching talk, & the players will respond in-kind. Side note: LA, you may want to edit your post, for one lil error, and I quote... "I have a world of confidence in AR to change this organizational culture once and for all..." .
Back in the good old Gase days when the Jets had so little talent, my expectations were for the team to play competitively, and they did for the most part. Right now there is a lot of talent on the team, so my expectations are for a winning season.......probably won't get it, but that's what I expect.
I don’t have expectations, but for whatever reason have a good feeling. I love the Glenn hire. I like fields . I think all the drama/ turmoil of saleh , Rodgers etc, shut off the valve of potential in a lot of the young players last year and maybe glen can tap it again.
I also want to see a course correct on guys like Sauce, Breece and Garrett Wilson to an lesser extent. It’d be nice to squeeze one last good year out of Quinnen Williams too. There is talent on this roster and it feels like the young talent was so frustrated last year, the effort became lackadaisical. The Jets roster is built right now to grind games out. And that’s ok. Run the ball, beat teams up. Make sure you beat teams at home they you should. We’re not going to see any 75 yard scoring drives with 55 seconds left to win games.
i think Glenn and Wilks will get the most out of Sauce Gardner for sure Two athletic tackles, a zone running back in Breece Hall, and a running QB. The Jets may go from last in the league in rushing attempts to top 5 this year. Fields will probably drive us crazy in both directions, good and bad, this year
I think we’ll be better than most people credit us. I think we will start out hot with a new coach, new QB, new energy, new style of football. I feel like we will come out like 6-3/5-4 in the first 9 games, but we’ll peter out with 8 or 9 wins total on the season, looking to draft a QB in this upcoming draft.
Only one way for the team to finish at .500 and that's with a tie. That being said, I'm hoping just like the rest of you for a competitive year. I expect a lot of learning pain as EVERYTHING is new on all sides of the ball, in the Lockeroom and in the FO. The D should be ahead of the offense and most likely will keep the team in games as long as they're not playing long minutes as in years past. I also think the relative quiet this offseason and TC should be a tremendous help as players can now just concentrate on getting these new systems in place instead of the drama, confusion and distraction of the Rodgers Era. I would be very happy with 9-8 but wouldn't be too upset with 8-9 or 7-10. Just show improvement and run the f'n circus in the direction of Pittsburgh, PA.
FFS just keep it interesting. We all want them to win but if they’re not gonna do that lose shootouts or 15 combined sacks/blocked field goals/6-3 type defensive epics. The Jets seasons usually just drift by as they exist to keep things interesting for every team in the league except themselves.
My expectations are: - 5-12 season. Anything better is a bonus. - Contributions from all draft picks given the thin state of the roster. We need more Slauson-like steals from lower drafted players. - As above, contributions from roster depth so there’s a solid foundation to build on. If coaching is demonstrably better, we should see this. - Some optimism that the 2026-27 season is something to look forward to rather than be dreaded. The Texans and Commanders have turned round rosters in double quick time so there’s no need for us to be in purgatory for 20 years.
I'm placing my early expectations on our Defense. I want a dominating top 5 (or better) defense. Quinnen, Quinten, Sauce. I'm hoping for the '85 Bears. A suffocating defense that made a so-so offense just good-enough. I'm hoping for the '09 Jets. A band of lunatics on defense no one wanted to play, that made our Rookie QB just good-enough to take us places. To me, that's our only hope.
