he was an undersized player playing out of position for us, add in injury concerns and his bad attitude, no thanks.
I want to be a millionaire and live in a Spanish Villa, but the answer to both is that it will not happen.
I feel like this ship has already sailed. Maybe he's grown up, maybe he won't get injured again, maybe he'll be as fast as his younger self, but that's a lot of maybes. Can we get him for vet min?
He wasn’t a good Safety in his prime, what makes you think he’ll be good now? We have absolutely no need for him as a player, and most definitely no need for him as a person.
Didn't he make the pro bowl? From what I hear, his game has fallen off a cliff since his prime. In addition, I highly doubt Woody would ever hire Adams for anything because of his criticism of the coach, GM and owner (Woody) before he was traded. Moral of the story: don't burn bridges.
Adams is an injury machine that is washed. The way Seattle used him probably contributed to it, but he agreed to be used that way. That said, lets go back in the way back machine. There was a time when Adams was the one bright spot on our whole team. He was basically the one true stud we had, was very loud about winning and improving the roster, very Jet green, and our only source of pride. When was the last time we had an all pro 3 years in a row? In reality he did deserve to be the top paid SS in the league, and back then he may well have been the best. But Woody and JD didn't think so, and they made it out like he was a whiner for wanting what he'd earned because he complained when we low balled him. And most of the fans agreed with them, which was a little silly because he was the best SS at the time. Adams wanted 17 million a year, reasonable for a 3X all pro, which is what Seattle ended up giving him. What did we do with the money? We paid Carl Lawson, a project who'd never even made the PB, moreless been an all pro, 15 million a year. So we lost a 3X all pro on a rookie contract to sign a project that returned nothing. Now don't get me wrong. I get that we may not have wanted to pay top dollar to a safety at the time, and he obviously returned a great haul in picks - because he was a top player. But he wasn't out of line for wanting to be paid top salary. My overreaching point is - we sided with WOODY over a 3 time all pro who'd been loyal to us during some of the worst rosters we've ever had. Adams had every right to be pissed at Woody and JD. I'm not mad at Adams over his departure. He got muddled by the Jets just like so many other promising rookie contracts we've screwed with poor management and cheapo offers. We only offer big contracts to over the hill former greats who we didn't draft and have no loyalty to us.
Yes, 3 times. Adams was a sack accumulator, similar to Bryce Huff. He was a one trick pony that was awful in coverage and decent against the run. SEA learned real fast he couldn’t play his position traditionally.
He was all pro 3 years running playing his position traditionally. Seattle wanted him in a front 7 role to boost their weak pass rush.
