Say it ain’t so! https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45180468/former-jets-db-jamal-adams-likes-idea-return-team
I've always been against it, as his exit rubbed me the wrong way. We do need safety depth. He can play his box safety role on a cheap contract, and I'll accept him back. Sent from my genius mind.
Had just read the same article and was coming here to comment. Adams was an excellent player while here, deserving of the pro bowls. We had him for 3 cheap years, and were able to trade him for two more first round picks. So we got great run on him. I followed him in Seattle, he played well initially, the 9.5 sacks was a record, and he deservingly made his third straight pro bowl I believe in 2020. the next season it all fell apart though. Torn shoulder, torn quad, tons of missed time. I noticed last couple years when he's played his speed has vastly decreased and he was the size of a LB. In fact im pretty sure he is bigger than Sherwood and slower. I’d be open to giving him a shot at vet min, to play LB or a box Robber type safety. That’s about his fit at this point if he makes any team. We are a long way from 2019 Adams.
Jamal Adams one of my favorite players. I still own and proudly wear his jersey. The dude was aaaamazing for the Jets. I don't know where he's at footballwise these days so I can't comment on that.
He'd be the perfect cancer to bring in, how ironic nobody wants him, so he wants to come back to the Jets!! Best move joe Douglas ever made getting rid of that bum
He was the best pass rusher on the team at the time. He was very tough to block, bouncing off guys 80-100 lbs bigger to get to the QB. In fact he had more sacks than most of the DEs or LBs whose job it was to rush the passer. So I guess he wanted PR money. At first, I thought it was really dumb to draft a safety that high especially with Deshaun Watson (and Mahomes) still on the board, nevertheless, I liked him as a player, but given the age of the talent on the Jets, I think they should pass and go with youth.
He played for the Lions last year, so AG can make a right assessment. At this point of his career he is a minimum level player in spite of a name. Whatever AG decides, not much of a needle mover.
He only played two games with the Lions I believe after being promoted from PS, and was cut before the playoffs. The promotion was due to injuries in the defensive backfield. That's the level player Adams is today. Imo, you sign him to PS, or as depth to Sherwood at LB, or maybe a situational role. Again I was a fan of his game when he was here, but that's where he is at today. Vet min.
Whatever Glenn decides to do about Adams is fine with me - pretty sure he's a lot closer to the situation than anybody here.
