yah seems like we played this board well today…big run on tackles and even a few guards. Also plenty of DTs taken as well…clearly the strength of this draft was in the trenches. Glad we went with OT when we did otherwise we’d be looking to have to trade up for one tomorrow I guess or go with a lesser guy. Absolutely the right move. Now we do for sure need weapons…specifically pass catchers…we need both WR and TE…I’d say go with the best one available with our next pick, and then go get the DT in round 3 I guess. Though I really do cringe when I say that…our 2nd round WR choices have been dreadful…Hill, Mims, Moore, ugh. Hopefully Mouge breaks that trend
Has Hackett been officialy fired yet? I haven't seen anything about him being fired. I missed it? He may still be in the building.
God I hope he’s not even in the state, let alone the building!!! Can’t imagine he is still on our staff
Pitt does it every year, I would love to find out their approach to finding good receivers in mid rounds.
No, I was referring to the Jets taking the most OL of any team in the NFL with their first round picks since 2020. Membou is their 4th first round OL picked in the last 6 drafts. It hasn't worked out so well to this point. We'll see if this guy helps. Campbell is a future perennial Pro Bowler, no doubt in my mind. That dude was born to play the position and his college resume backs it up completely. Hopefully Membou shows out.
That comment was most likely sarcasm due to us having 1 wr worth a shit, and nothing but Ruckert at TE…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's a copycat league. The Eagles kicked the crap out of the Chiefs in the SB b/c they had better lines and not the better QB.
I wouldn't be so quick as to write off Corley. I think his issue was with the prior CS/OC/QB troika. We also have more picks coming so lets see what the next several days bring.
How many times are we going to rehash and commensurate the same BS of years past regarding drafting OL in the first round. The past is dead, The incompetence left the building, and we once again were left in desperate need of a RT. We got the best available. Great move. End of story. We also have by elimination improved our OL future tremendously, simply by firing that incompetent Carter and the whole dreadful Offensive CS that only catered to one player that took us nowhere even with two top receivers fighting for catches. Let’s move forward, please, continue to build this team right, target DL, get a complimentary receiver or two, give Corley a real shot, add a real TE and leverage every player skill, not just what suited the QB.
We all have to realize that this is not a "win-now" season for the Jets. There will be large weaknesses on this team. This draft should be one where the Jets build a solid foundation and selecting OL in the 1st round is consistent with that strategy. It wouldn't surprise me if the next pick is D-line. Of course, there are many factors that contribute to the success of an NFL team, so this could be a playoff team. It also could be a 5 win team. I don't think bottom 5 team or top 5 team is likely though.
