We need to draft a number #2 and see what last year rookie can do with a competent O staff that schemes to the players strength. With AR very few players saw the field.
I too would take Slayton for the same price. But he got 3 years, 36 mil guaranteed. Lazard got 2 mil guaranteed. I am taking Lazard at his price rate over Slayton at his 100 out of 100 times. And if we did get Slayton, we would still have GW and a bunch of scrubs.
At that price and given the state of the receiver room, it's reasonable. He has some pretty bad hands, but he also made some big plays, is experienced as a starter, and was better with Rodgers. He gets a lot of hate, but this makes sense
Agreed…the contracts make that the decision…I was just saying if the money were similar, I’d prefer Slayton all day long
Agree. I responded to that on a separate thread. We will draft one or two and also see what we have with our last year rookie which was given zero chance by the previous regime.
My opinion only, but I think this signing means the jets will look at TE, DT, and RT before WR in draft. Now I would be real surprised if Tet McMilllian went in rd.1 to jets. The jets will get another WR in the draft, but now it will be day 2 at the earliest.
LOL…my immediate reaction: Let’s hope it’s not a Second Round WR!!!!! We ONLY draft BUST WRs in the 2nd round
Yes indeed, a team that really wants to emphasize and prioritize the running game retains a very good blocking receiver at a bargain price. Go figure. It almost seems too logical to be a Jets move.
uhh no they kept him cause nobody wanted to trade for him if anybody offered anything he’d be out of here in a NY minute
I believe it was a great move, they kept him because at this cost he has more value than releasing him, he is a decent WR3 for the money, and even makes a potential future trade more feasible, while reducing our cap.
