You're seeing a lot of discussion of Aaron Glenn, prior to a week before we hired him, reflected in these charts? Are you seeing any discussion of the GM hire at all? He didn't even spike when we hired him.

He'll probably be on the team next year: either as the uncontested starter or competing with a high draft pick. It's not a bad bet, in my opinion.

Im not a big gambler in general so maybe it's just me, but you're heading your bets quite a bit by ensuring no less than a $22 mil cap hit for a guy that might flame out.

My favorite thing so far is that Fields is in Dubai during all of this. He is already doing a great job replacing Rodgers! :D

    Please explain...

I'd really like to know how you arrived at "bridge QB." IMO, that's ridiculous.

First, while he may not be Patrick Mahomes he sure as hell isn't Zach Wilson.
Second, we haven't seen him in our scheme, yet, but he seemed to have no problem going to Pittsburg and putting up a winning record in the time he was allotted. I have to believe that the new regime isn't going after a QB they feel is going to totally shit the bed just to make themselves look bad.
Last, I don't know what league you are looking at but $25 mill was the salary for Geno Smith last year. He ranked TWENTIETH on the list. 21st was Minshew at a little over $12 million. The Jets are going to pay $8 Mil (Cap number) this year and $23 Mil next. Now you tell me, factoring in inflation for this year AND next, how this is a bad monetary deal. We're going to pay that # regardless of who sits in that slot.

Listen, I get it. I keep saying this but clearly some aren't reading... This is about as low risk and high reward as you GET in the NFL. You have a kid who has started all of 3 1/2 years in the league, looked pretty decent in the time he was given in Pitt and he's young. The Jets took a 2 year flyer on the kid for "market level" money. They didn't over pay and they have a guy who is going to work his ass off to prove he isn't a bust. These guys take time to "get it." If he "gets it" in 2025 then the Jets FINALLY have their FQB. If he doesn't, you have a quality backup while they draft a kid in 2026. In a draft that, FINALLY, aligns with the Jets needing a QB and there are some GOOD ONES to choose from. Not another bullshit "Zach Wilson" year of QB's to weed through.

Besides, the Jets, historically, are absolute SHIT at drafting and then bringing along a young QB. The franchise has done the most damage with veteran cast offs. Well, if Fields isn't a "cast off" I don't know what is. Again, LOW RISK........HIGH REWARD and CHEAP comparatively!

    Good pick

Kid had a 6-4 record with the Steelers last year before he got replaced by vet Wilson

the 4 loses were by 3-5 points

He has skills that can be improved with Glenn’s coaching and right weapons

I was saying that in response to the post I quoted. The premise was that if he stinks then he’s a 2026 bridge quarterback to whoever we draft starting in 2027. If that’s the case then he’s a pretty expensive bridge quarterback.

    who is “they”

you are incorrect depending on who you mean by “they.” If it’s a butt buddy or something I suppose we can’t refute that

Well, by all means, feel free to link to all the media stories listing Aaron Glenn as a top HC candidate. There should be tons since he was such a top candidate all year apparently.

    EDIT:
Nevermind, I don't really care. He's our coach now. He won't be our coach five years from now. The GM will be gone too. We will have wasted plenty of time in between.

Don’t let the guy with rose colored glasses knock you off your opinion. He’s absolutely a bridge qb, which by definition is someone holding you over until you get the next guy. He’s been on 3 teams in 4 years for a reason. He’s put up bad numbers everywhere he’s been, was benched by both Pittsburgh and Chicago, and even though Pittsburgh still needs a QB they said nah. He’s 0-22 in games where his defense gives up more than 20 points. QBs don’t break out in their 4th and 5th year and when they do (which is the exception) it’s with highly talented offensive minds like Sean mcvay, Kevin O’Connell, Kyle shannahan etc., not first time defensive head coaches.

Between Rodgers dead cap and Fields Jets are now paying almost 50 mil in cap space this year for a 26 year old guy who is now on his 3rd team and at best a average Qb. Just more proof of how stupid and poorly run this orginzation really is. Thats a bigger cap hit than Joshn Allen in 2025. Instead of upgrading at the quarterback position we downgraded.

Yep. Its funny to see this fanbase hype up a rookie head coach, rookie GM, and a QB thats average at best.

The Jets remain a complete disaster.

Agreed. He's not Luke Falk or Christian Hackenberg. He's Justin Fields, a young, very athletic, so-so QB who has a chance to develop. I think it's a good risk.

So, what you are saying is, just realize they've got $30+ in dead money at the QB position, don't sign a QB and just say "F' it, that's what you are saying? What's your plan? I see all kinds "hate" against the decision yet no solutions. AGAIN, NO ONE is banking on Fields being a wunderkind. We are ALL expecting him to shit up the place, entertaining-yes, but shit up the place none the less. HOWEVER!! Being a previous top 1st round pick, who isn't mentioned in the same type of breath as Zach Wilson, lands in "our" lap. As is with MOST QB's that stick, a light goes on. All some of are saying is, wouldn't it be nice if the light went on and the NY Jets were the beneficiary? For a damn change, for fucks sake, something GOOD to happen to this soulless franchise. Believe me, though, I'm sure not betting on it. My guess is we'll be in the top 5 next year so...in line for one of the 4 or 5 QB's expected to be available via the draft in 2026. And I don't want to hear jack or his good buddy squat about the 2 moderately polished turds coming out in this draft. I can't tell you how Fields is going to play but I can damn sure bank on neither of those 2 QB's amounting to shit in the NFL.

I don't hear anyone hyping a QB. I read that people are saying he was the best bite of the shit sandwich that is this FA class. And a damn site better than the 2 kids coming out. That's what I've been seeing.
