https://x.com/richcimini/status/1899197446997373413?s=46 I don’t really get this? We have the highest paid slot corner and 2x All-Pro Sauce. CB2 needs to be someone like Echols or a fill-in and resources like this money/signing should go to another position of a greater need. I like Glenn but I really hope it doesn’t turn into the ol’ Bowles shit where I need good corners for my system nonsense and we dump a ton of resources into the secondary every year.
I think Glenn likes fast athletic guys. Stephens ran 4.44 at the combine and has 9.3 RAS score. This is another 2 year deal with 3d year team option, meaning he will be here until he is 29. He had one good year - 2023, then dropped off in 2024. I too am a bit surprised this is our second move after Fields. There are bigger needs and Stephens seems just OK. Not a terrible move I guess, but nothing to get excited about.
I like the Fields signing, but the Stephens signing is terrible. The guy was toasted early and often last year and the Ravens are already damn glad he is gone. Maybe the new jets GM wants to be another Mike McCagnan.
I’m hoping he’s brought in a safety option. He started out his career as such. At the very least, he brings versatility.
Curious what position they intend for him to play. Like the versatility if nothing else. Seems like a lot of money but I've said that about almost every deal I've seen so i may need to recalibrate my expectations. We need help at CB2 and probably both safety spots
Apparently the kid is athletic and can play tight man to man but absolutely can not get his head around. We had a CB like that…wore #20 I think. Drove each and every one of us on this board insane whenever the ball was thrown his way. Forgot his name. Not looking forward to his second coming.
Maybe they think his problem with getting his head around will be gone if they move him to Safery??? He could look good there let’s see if we bring any other options along
Yeah, hard to justify that one. I mean the guy is turning 28 this year, I am not sure there is some untapped potential. Didn't have a great season. Maybe as @legler82 said, he will turn into safety? Still, a bit puzzling given the size of the contract. I want to give AG benefit of the doubt when it comes to evaluating DBs, but still... Baltimore usually is not a place where defensive players cannot thrive. It's normally the opposite. And he was not good there last year.
They could’ve had the best center on the market for $6 million total more per year. Instead we get CB3 with a heavy investment into the position already. The franchise just can’t get away from their DT/secondary obsession sometimes.
The surprising part is not even that he is a CB (there was a need with Reed leaving) but that he was not very good last year and we still paid pretty sizable amount.
Kyle Wilson is best known for having his mind in the game. Like when the jets had the Ravens in a 3rd down and 29 yards to go and Wilson got called for defensive holding 5 yards from the line of scrimmage! AUTOMATIC FIRST DOWN and eventual TD on that drive for Baltimore! Dumb shit!
I'm scratching my head as well. The ONLY thing I can think is this is Aaron Glenn's team. As a corner himself I would sure as hell hope he can pick em'. I guess time will tell.
Or another fav - he's getting beaten like a drum, in a trailing position barely staying on his feet, the ball is overthrown and he would finger-wag after the play, good times...
