Was the Penguin discussed yet? I’ve only watched a single episode so far but it was great.

They managed to do what they couldn’t accomplish in Suicide Squad, Justice League, etc. which is make the whole thing dark as fuck and insert maybe 2 jokes in an hour ten minutes to keep it light.

No idea why DC had such a hard time figuring this out.

Blast from the past: 'Little House on the Prairie'. Melissa Gilbert, running, running, running. I saw something once where she said that's all she ever did in her childhood.

Some of those episodes are so dark it's unreal. A typhus epidemic, rape (the clown episode is fckd), animal cruelty, puberty, Miss Beadle losing her mind, smoking, blindness, child abuse, mental illness, a slimy visiting preacher, you name it, it's in there.

Highly recommend for all of the reasons listed above. "My baby, my baby, my baby!", after Albert accidentally burns the house down from smoking a pipe in the basement is one for the ages. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Thinks of killing himself, confesses, but blind Mary forgives him. Don't smoke kids!

The actress who played Nellie Olsen is actually a really super cool person who often goes off on child acting, and this was before the blatant abuses of Disney and Nickelodeon. Anyway, highly recommend, lol.

Edit: Free on Roku channel, sp, and I typed barn instead of basement.

Ari Shaffir’s new standup special on Netflix is actually hilarious. Most specials have been disappointing lately but this one delivered.

Smithsonian Channel: Liberation: D-Day to Berlin. Wild colorized original footage. I saw and learned things that I never knew.

It is so worth the watch. Warning: Disturbing tons of death.

American Primeval on Netflix is good. You can binge it in one day. It's pretty dark.

I just finished Loudermilk on Netflix. It’s been around a few years but only recently popped up in my feed so I gave it a whirl. If darkish comedy is your thing, I’d give it a strong recommendation. Sam Loudermilk, a former music critic, leads a band of misfits in an alcoholics support group. Per Peter Farrelly, they’re definitely doing a fourth season and have a story arc in mind that expands to seven. Fair warning - season three ends abruptly.

I was turned onto this one last year and binged the whole thing in like a week, excellent show all around. That's great news about the new seasons, I had no idea. They better bring back Laura Mennell.

Yeah, I wasn’t real keen on how she was phased out, but I was sure she’d be back. That’s kind of a thing on this show - characters dropping out and then coming back later with a different twist. Not her, though. Her courtroom appearance doesn’t count.

Cutter is another one, but I wasn’t all that disappointed. The Cutter/Tom mentor/mentee thing was getting tiresome with no end in sight. But then it just stops and Cutter is deleted entirely. Sad ironic factoid per Peter Farrelly - he had to leave to show because of a substance abuse problem.
