It's all there - all you would need to do is read for content. Too hard an ask, I guess.

(And done without the balls to respond directly.)

True, I also think the first year of a rookie QB will be a throwaway year anyways so 2026 might be a down year.

I think if Glenn can get this time a winning season or even playoffs next year it would really set the tone heading into the future. I'd hate to tank next year and then 2026 start a rookie, essentially giving Glenn two free passes. I also think him handling Rodgers personality would be a good test to. If he can it would show a lot and make us all feel confident about him as a head coach. There is a lot to gain for Glenn by bringing Rodgers back imo. I want to see Glenn under pressure next year rather being handed freebie seasons.

    "
    @JayGlazer
spoke with #Jets HC Aaron Glenn this morning about the future of Aaron Rodgers: Glenn told Jay Glazer: ‘I plan to go meet with Aaron Rodgers & will definitely come up with a decision much sooner than later. I don’t wanna drag this out.’"

    Shouldn't be too much longer...

I've thought about this some more and I'll be surprised if Rodgers is back.

When I'm trying to predict someone's actions, I always try to remember that everyone looks out for themselves first and foremost. Glenn is going to put his own interests ahead of what's good for the team. Often, these interests will align. But with regard to Rodgers, they do not.

Retaining Rodgers means Glenn is screwed if we do poorly next year. Getting rid of Rodgers gives Glenn the almighty QB scapegoat that every coach loves. Unless Glenn is an idiot or uniquely selfless, I am sure he is thinking these things.

I get the sentiment but this is a massive oversimplification. We were 24th in points per game this year. The offense was a larger problem than the defense.

    That makes sense tbh.

If Rodgers comes back then Glenn has more pressure to win. If he doesn't then less pressure and low expectations.

“He will not start off his career — now I said this first, nobody else is saying this — he will not start off his career with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in September,” Keyshawn Johnson, former teammate of Aaron Glenn stated, he continued...

"I'm just letting you know, he ain’t going to start his career with that mess. It’s not going to happen. He’s not going to allow somebody to tell him what he’s doing as a coach.”

You see the "we lost because of defense" explanation come up every few pages. By week 16 we had the 5th ranked defense, and I think we finished 8th.

It sounds like they are leaning towards keeping Rodgers but until we get through the draft and the first couple weeks of free agency I am not trusting any info.

No brainer but to bring Aron back and draft Dart or McCord.

What would a Kirk Cousins do for us? We need to keep some continuity with the O but giving Aaron no control over scheme.

Who said to bring Cousins? The last thing we should be doing is trading for or signing half ass FA’s to come here. Next season we are not even close to being contenders. Our roster is awful, our culture is awful, and our depth is awful. What Glenn needs to do is take a page out of Parcells book and make an example out of a couple vets and just do them dirty on the way out the door like Parcells did to Hugh Douglas. My suggestion is to send Rodgers, Lazard, Kinlaw, and Mosely out the door in an unceremonious fashion. Then trade Sauce Gardner for being too soft. Tell the rest of the players still standing they’ll be next if they don’t give 100% to the process, and bring in a couple guys who have played for and respect Glenn. As for QB, bring in a guy like Brissett or Winston to compete with Tyrod and hold it down for a season while we rebuild and get ready to draft our QB in 2026.

post begins with "the last thing we should be doing is trading for or signing half ass FA’s to come here" and ends with a suggestion of some half-assed FAs to sign or trade for haha

The offense in '23 was worse. The defense this year gave up 24 a game. Yeah offense could be better, but the defense didn't even come close to playing up to their talent potential. The offense was better than last year, but the defense regressed. Last year's defense + this year's offense = playoffs.

Not saying Rodgers was hall of fame level, but it's the best QB play we've seen in 20 years and it's coming off major surgery. Any smart head coach would be ignoring the media smear campaign on Rodgers, which is 99% based on unsubstantiated rumors and outrage baiting.

I think the offense sucked big time.

A couple games at the end of the year against Jacksonville (the worst team in the league) and Miami (cancun vacations on their mind) pads the stats a little, I dont think its smart to think the offense is good because of that.

Important games against decent teams: Denver, Minnesota. Pittsburgh, Arizona, the offense was just terrible and had more penalties/turnovers than points in some cases

Continuity supplies a weak argument with a new OC, as yet unnamed, but even more so than with an over-the-hill 41 year old quarterback. I also believe that Mougey has already ordered shovels to dig out of the Jets cap situation.

I don't even know what "outrage baiting" is but I do know what 5 - 12 is.

Perspective: Rodgers in 2024 did not outperform the Ryan Fitzpatrick of 2015. How anyone wants an overhyped, overpaid quarterback worse than 2/3 of the league is beyond me.

We need to compare Jets players to the NFL, not to the Jets alone.

People consider Cousins or Carr as a means to potentially winning, in other words half ass because those guys are a dirct path to mediocrity. . You’re not winning with Winston/Brissett/Tyrod. They hold the fort. They’re not half ass, they’re no ass, and that’s as far as I want the team investing in FA QB’s

"Aaron has his process in the offseason that he goes through, we have ours." - D. Mougey

My guess is we'll see plenty of interpretations on this one.
