Maryland doesn’t have any sort of recruiting power for football or to compete with the Big Ten schools. No idea why they’re not in the ACC. But yeah Nagle’s right. Long coaching history including under Saban and former college player. Probably could be a good OC or QB coach in the NFL but doesn’t seem like he’d be ready for the jump.
Interesting short interview with a Lions reporter on the two coordinators in Detroit. He gives his perspective on which one he sees as better for a situation like the Jets are in. I would lean heavily in his direction; the question remaining is which one can more easily carry the coordinators and staff necessary along with him. Barring a surprise in availability of Vrabel I may have my top pick. That pick is one that has taken a while to come around to. /www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/report-says-it-may-come-down-to-saints-vs-jets-for-top-head-coach-candidate/ar-BB1reSZ2?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=b2e559645c264f2baad3373051ef9b70&ei=278

If it’s not Aaron Glenn I 1000% believe it’s gonna be Rex. Heck, it might be Rex anyway. NFL is in the business of entertainment. The Jets do not entertain me at all on the field. At least Rex is entertaining.
I think people forget a lot of the time that head football coaches go a lot further beyond X’s and O’s. Both offensive and defensive coaches can succeed. Our culture is so fucking rotten that I find it hard to believe that one of these young coordinators with limited experience but a lot of X and O knowledge is going to fix it. Especially with very little prospect of having a good young QB next year.
Considering how banged up the lions D is and they haven’t missed a beat. I’m like Glenn a lot more. Ties to the franchise with being a first round pick and played 8 years here. bring him home!!
Is spag still an option to interview? If not, I’m leaning pretty much to hoping it’s Glenn . Flores after that (3) Edit.. spagnuolo just interviewed today
I like Flores a lot but Ryan Fitzpatrick’s comments recently are a bit alarming. I figured when the Tua stuff came out Tua is just being a giant pussy, but Fitz has no reason to bend the truth. Also haven’t heard anyone defend Flores really.
I do think it will be Glenn. Not my 1st choice (I do want an offensive guy and would pick Brady and possibly McCown over him from the Jets list), but could be worse. Definitely way better than Flores and vast majority of others interviewed.
I’m not touching Flores with a 10 foot pole. The dude was hated by his players. I’m feeling Glenn. Ben Johnson was my #1 by a lot but it looks like he’s not an option and told Woody to fuck off. Rex loves the team and I love Rex for that and I know his players will play hard for him but he’s been out of the game for too long. He should have taken a DC role after year or two after Buffalo to keep up with the modern game. Anyone know who Glenn would bring in as OC? What his plan is there? Mark Brunnel? Josh McCowan?
The Lions probably have to replace Ben Johnson too so one of their guys will become OC. Maybe Brunell
What has Glenn done? The Lions are good because of their offense and their heart. Ben Johnson is the offense and Dan Campbell is the heart. Glenn is a JAG along for the ride.
Glenn feels like Saleh 2.0 to me. I just don't think his body of work is impressive and he seems to mostly be a hot name because of the people around him, just like Saleh was.
Some of these guys (McCown & Glenn) are HC candidates because of their demonstrated leadership abilities not necessarily because of their experience as coordinators. Ben Johnson has proven himself to be a good coordinator but no one knows if he’s a good leader. There’s more to the HC position than calling plays. Saleh, for example, proved to be a better coordinator than leader when it was all said and done.
