Not interested in electric stuff... avets or spj rods... maaaaybe ;-) rt now I need a spinner for my new reel first. Speaking of buying too much stuff, made an impulse purchase on some TD trolling rods that I did not need... emailed to cancel the order and theyre already being shipped. DOH
Amazing how fast they can get shit shipped when you try to cancel it... The SPJ's are Temple Reef. The AVETS I'll do a inventory and let you know, I do have a Penn Slammer never used.
not a spin reel, a rod Mailman just came... client dropped a $100 giftcard to Strike Zone in JAX, with their december payment. Cool store, I just wish they had a better online prescence so I could "shop" what they have before driving an hour up there.
First you need to be honest with yourself. It's not the hour's drive it's the lack of self control when you can see the stuff, smell the stuff and feel it! Same is true for anything we do bec ause we want to not because we have to.
Forgot to mention I got out to LA just before Christmas. 6 hour Charter with Rogezacsportfishing out of San Pedro. Brought along my daughter and 4 of her friends. Forecast was for 7' seas at 16 seconds. Swelly. Fished Captain Rogers Stigercraft wih his son Zac. All bottom fishing from 60' to 500' not more than 2 -3 miles offshore. Captain was good moving the boat when a spot didn't produce. Lots of shorts but managed 7 species of fish and had plenty of keeps which we ate Christmas Eve. Fish caught were Sanddabs, Whitefish, Calico Bass, Sand Bass, Red Snapper, Barber Pole Snapper, and Rockfish. Was a fun trip and I'll do it again.Captain tried to get us to upgrade to a 12 hour trip which included Catalina Island. They bring collapsible fish pots and tie them to floats, go fishing for a few hours, then come back and collect the traps. Said the Spiny Lobsters were crawling and would be a good time to get them.
I have a possible fishing invite in Florida Super Bowl weekend. We will be staying in Hobe Sound. Don’t know yet if it will be sound fishing or Atlantic fishing. I like edible species so what should we target?
If it's going to be flat, you're gonna be in "Sailfish Alley" this time of year, so personally that would be my ocean target species.... but as far as eats, you can find some blackfin tuna (but you're spoiled by yellowfin and bluefin) and wahoo Inshore / ICW... Snook, then redfish
I'm thinking about doing the Dry Tortugas in '26. From what I've been able to find out, its Grouper City in about 300ft.
