This isn’t college football in 1994 where you might need half a decade or more to have a shot at a top 5 ranking if you’re not a powerhouse program. I’m sure he got insight into what his NIL budget is going to be. You can buy an entire team these days. The ACC is also very weak at the moment and a conference championship in a weak conference gets you in the playoff. Shit, SMU didn’t beat a team that finished ranked their first year in a power 5 conference and they got in.
The noise is now coming out from his entourage that he's "disgusted" with what the NFL has become. Yeah, he's disgusted that it's become a place that doesn't worship at the altar of Belichick the god any more. I have no idea if he can pull it off (though it seems unlikely, since to me "pulling it off" would mean winning at least one game in the CFP in the next two years), but I absolutely believe that he wouldn't be doing this if he thought he could get the job he wanted in the NFL.

I think BB is going to be hugely successful at UNC albeit maybe in a short tenure UNC is a sleeping giant in football, they have NIL money out the ass with Michael Jordan/Jordan brand.
