Not all of them. One was shit and almost missed, hit the post and then by luck thankfully went in. He also doesn't have the leg, you can see it on the kick offs. This guy is not a very good kicker, you could see why Washington cut him and wanted an upgrade, and I still would have preferred Coughlin, but anyone is better than Greg at this point. So, our kicker situation is still not great, but not as terrible as before with washed up Greg. Greg is not hurt. I am sure he got some pain somewhere in his dick after raping this team for half a year, and they used it for medicals. The real reason is that the idiots at FO finally realized he had to be benched, but instead of cutting him, stashed him on IR since he has a guaranteed contract for this year. Probably thinking to have him part of another competition next year? That's so stupid, just get rid of this guy, but whatever. I am worried about Patterson now, who while better than Greg, did not exactly instill any confidence by almost missing an easy kick off the post and weak leg on kick offs.
So, Patterson is out and Carlson is in, who has pretty terrible XP %, career 86%. This year did well for SF while their main kicker was hurt, hitting all 5 FGs, including two 50+, and 2 others 40+. Still missed one critical XP out of 4 attempted. Originally I thought he was a weak legged kicker (I haven't seen him kick, but touchback % seems very low), but some reports are saying he has decent leg. Not sure what to think on that, but this signing seems a bit shaky as well, could be Patterson level or a little better due to potentially stronger leg.
Of course he is... You don't think JD would be allowed to throw away the remainder of that contract he just gave Greg the Leg right? Zuerlein is bulletproof.
"If Greg makes those kicks we have a winning record." "Greg cost us the playoffs." While Greg choked badly and I am guessing that the last game was so bad because he got in his own head after the previous failures, I think we can put these myths to bed. These myths are much like the Zach Wilson is holding this playoff team with a top five defense back myth. I am not saying I want the guy back as our kicker last year but I think Greg as the butt monkey is old news and we have many other people to blame for this abomination.
I think this thread is more appropriate https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/fire-joe-douglas-2024-2025-edition.100505/
Nm some dude named Carlson is kicking. As for Shrader According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the Jets tried to keep Shrader by offering him a spot on the roster, but the Notre Dame product chose to play for the 9-0 Chiefs and help their continued pursuit of a perfect season. He’ll kick for Kansas City this Sunday against the Bills in Buffalo.
Wow. I mean this is incredible. These fuckers had a competition - just sign the guy who wins it to active roster. If he sucks, you get another guy. JD ended up signing both, but only to PS, so that anyone else who needed a kicker can see how they kick for us and can get them. What an imbecile. You can't make this shit up.
If he was put on the practice squad. another kicker must have been on the roster. Shrader obviously wasn't on the practice squad when he played Sunday. Is Zuerline back?
I'm not extremely familiar with the ins and outs of activating players and what the financial implications are, but the Jets have done it with many players where they only activate them for a game and then plop them back on the PS. I don't even know if they have a kicker on the active roster right now. Zeurlein is on IR for at least 4 games I think.
Seriously. Let's trot out a kicker who has a solid week, then make him available for anybody to pluck him for free if they want rather than just keep him. WTF? It would be hilarious if this dude went on to be another Jason Meyers or Austin Seibert.
How much money can you possibly save by putting a kicker on the PS instead of the active roster for a week? it’s more of the same with Joe Douglas… thinks he’s smarter than everyone with a loophole or something. It’s been chaos with kickers and punters since he got here. His first game ever he signed a guy the week of, cutting the kicker we had all preseason. The new dude missed some kicks and cost us the win cant wait til Douglas is fired
Selfishly I want him back because at this point we are tanking and Greg would help, but if you want to win the fact we are even discussing he might be coming back and has not been waived is simply moronic. I still can't get over how JD fucked this kicking situation. Just when I thought he could not have done any worse, he managed to top himself. Actually found a decent one again who appears to have both the leg and accuracy, even when it is too little too late, and yet managed to fumble it away again somehow. If someone described you how this whole thing unfolded before the season, you would not believe a GM could possibly be this incompetent.
