It's called a great defense and running game. Something this current regime knows next to nothing about.

Rex Ryan is a talking head bag of hot air, nothing more. Enjoy the memories from 15 years ago because that's where they died.

Waiting for all of those offers Rex Ryan is getting to come back into the NFL as a HC in 3, 2, 1...NOT!

That's because other NFL teams are run well enough that they wouldn't need to offer someone like Ryan the job. The Jets have no such luxury.

I'd bring back Mangini before him.

Least common denominator isn't how you win in the NFL. Jets have been trying that for the last 15 years unsuccessfully.

I guarantee you that Rex Ryan ain't walking through that door so you can forget about it. The end.

Don't bother there's only two things there - a hot dog and a butt. Oh, wait - maybe a booger too.

Typical Jet fan logic: Our problem is that we have a defensive minded coach who likes overly conservative playcalling and whose teams are notorious for lacking discipline. Let's replace him with a defensive minded coach who likes overly conservative playcalling and whose teams are notorious for lacking discipline. Oh, and make sure that coach has not been in the league for 10 years! That'll turn our fortunes around!

I don't want to take away Rex's accomplishments in 2009 and 2010, but he still only gave us 2 good seasons followed by 4 shitty ones. He's done as head coach. If he wanted to come back in some assistant coach role, that'd be cool, but I don't think he'd want that; his ego is too big.

They've attracted a lot of top notch prospects over the past 20 years. They haven't worked out, but let's not rewrite history and pretend that guys like Saleh, Bowles, and Mangini weren't highly sought after. This whole idea that the Jets can only hire rejects that nobody else wants is a bullshit myth based on absolutely nothing except our own frustrations with the team.

This team has a lot of talent but is poorly coached. They will attract a lot of top notch guys. Now, could I see them making a stupid decision like hiring Rex again for the publicity, or hiring another conservative DC with no prior HC experience, or hiring another OC who clearly is a figurehead who owes his success solely to his QB and HC? Absolutely. But the idea that nobody of value would come here is just baseless.

I never said that. What I said was that the Jets are not a desirable option to highly sought head coaches with actual head coaching experience.

When push comes to shove, Rex will always have a place in my heart. He and his family have a deep history with the NFL and specifically with the Jets. I have respect for that because it did look and feel he started the team on the road to a winning culture.
That said, I don't think in the end, when I look back, that he was anything but a charismatic cheerleader, and his success is because of the amazing amount of talent the team had in place. It was a fortuitous situation, where the Jets needed someone to bond the talent and he was capable of doing that for the most part. But I think all the locker room stuff and poor management occurred pretty much right after 2010 and it was not good. He was irresponsible and the team began to reflect his naked bravado and impulsive, poor, and short-sighted decision-making. He did not replicate this success afterwards with the Bills, and I don't think he is the football guy this teams needs. Coaching NFL football is absolutely a thinking man's game, and on some level, he is a bit of a non-thinker. Loveable all the same, but he should stay a cheerleader from the sidelines. That said, the first hire after this season should be a head of football operations.

I could see Woody hiring, someone of his caliber, and bring in Jason Garrett, they'd be 2 peas in a pod
