I had a bad feeling when this happened. Third-and-three on our first drive, and a Patriots defensive lineman lurches forward into the neutral zone. A quick snap of the ball, or one of our linemen standing up and pointing, and we get a five-yard penalty and an easy first down. Instead we hold steady (our left guard waved half-heartedly), run the play, and it's an incomplete pass, bringing up fourth-and-three. We pretend to go for it... and we try to draw them offsides! They don't bite and we end up punting. On the Patriots' next drive, one of our d-linemen jumps into the neutral zone and their offensive line reacts, making sure the officials see it, and they pick up five free yards. On a third-and-three, shouldn't our linemen be aware that a five-yard penalty is a great play for us? Am I missing something here?
The amount of little things we do wrong week in and week out is staggering. The lack of accountability is also mind boggling. Clemmons and Greg the leg shoulda been cut this morning.
They can't even get a play off, before the clock expires, the NFL needs to banish Jets and the browns to the CFL, it's sad when the entire game the announcers are all but laughing at this team.
Yeah that chronic time management issue in regards to the play clock is infuriating. Rodgers saying sometimes they need more urgency when getting up to the line. No really, you think? That shit is so gross and fireable it's not funny. It happens on almost every offensive series for the Jets. I've never seen anything like it. Pathetic.
The offensive ineptitude is well, "OFFENSIVE!" I've never seen anything like it on such a consistent basis. Once in a great while is one thing but this team rolls this shit out on a game by game basis. There is never a truer indictment on poor coaching than penalties, clock management and the understanding of the "little things" in a game. Case in point, last night I'm watching the 49'ers/Dallas game. Their ROOKIE running back is flying his 4.3 40-time self down the sideline with the endzone in sight. Instead of scoring and allowing the Cowboys a chance at another possession, he slides 2 yds from the endzone instead of scoring. He ensures that the offense can kneel and kill the remainder of the clock instead of letting the Cowboys take a possession with a possibility for "anything can happen." It's the exact very thing that someone, like the Jets, would simply not be coached well enough to understand. In Jets land, the runner scores (missed extra point of course), kick to the Cowboys who run the KO back for a TD, Cowboys then hit an onsides kick, gain possession and score again thus winning the game. All with 30 seconds on the clock. Believe me, it's happened and it WOULD happen to a team like the Jets that aren't coached well enough to understand the nuances of the game. Just SMH.
bronx cheer once the players step in between the lines its on them coaches most obviously dont coach TO DO this stupid shit
