Best possible option is obviously Woody selling the team to someone that has the will to keep his hands off the football, and let football guys run the operation. Next best is - Woody hires Hoodie and keeps himself completely sequestered from Jet one drive in its entirety. ======================== As long as Woody the boogey man is trying to keep his hands on this organization, there is no hope. I pity Saleh.
https://x.com/BleacherReport/status/1843699598327730510.. This seem really unnecessarily hostile if true. Now I'm kind of wondering if the real reason for the firing was because he wore a Lebanon flag? I mean just knowing Woody political beliefs.
The Athletic is reporting that Woody made the decision to fire Saleh without consulting anyone in the front office, including Douglas. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5828326/2024/10/08/robert-saleh-fired-jets-coach/ If true, that sounds fucked up. Wouldn't a reputable owner go to his GM and say, "Hey, I'm thinking of firing the HC. What do you think?"
I don't want loyal, I want results... that's all that matters.. Belicheat is a douche but he got results
It’s standard corporate protocol to escort a fired employee out of the building. Fired employees don’t get to give farewell tours to the office and say heartfelt goodbyes. Laid off people do, there’s a huge difference. Fired people fill a box with their shit in 10 minutes and then walk out with management and/or security until they’re out the door. There’s literally nothing unusual about this.
Woody goes 25 years without firing someone midseason, all the shit coaching we’ve seen… the ONE game where the coach wears a Lebanon flag when there’s a war going on in Lebanon no less and he fires the coach, when he’s 2-3 can’t be a coincidence
If this is true it really piques my interest and kind of confirms what I'm hearing. Wood-RUFF is running that show and EVERYONE is a figurehead. I've "heard" it wasn't JD's call to bring Rodgers in, thus in turn, to bring Hackett over. Just an example but there have been others. Maybe Wood-ruff and Tepper are in competition to see who can fuck their team up more than the other, in a single season.
Woody definately consulted Rodgers before making this decision, common get real. He would never fire Saleh before getting a ok from AR. It's no secret Rodgers took the "cadance" remark personal, and depsite what he says he didn't like Saleh to much.
So you’re saying Saleh is a person who took matters in his own hands to support a terrorist regime (which in the case of Woody being angry about it he’d have to assume Saleh is supporting Hesbollah) by altering his official required apparel (which he probably got fined for by the league) and didn’t ask at all. And then did it again!! That’s the guy you’re mad Woody fired? A HC that just takes matters into his own hands to support terrorism? Really? Or, as hoccam’s razor would indicate given Woody hired him knowing he’s Muslim, and the fact that Saleh has worn the parch before and is by all accounts and incredibly humble and stand up guy. Crazy that I’m the one here saying Saleh is a stand up guy that would have asked before altering his standard NFL required apparel.
Wouldn't be shocked if Woody just fired him cause he hated seeing the Lebanon flag on his arm in London and it became a topic. I would not put it past Woody
To play devil's advocate: Saleh is objectively the worst recent coach we've had by W-L. We're also in a unique situation given that we're all in for the first time in forever with Rodgers. A decision had to be made sooner rather than later if there is any hope of saving this season. There are plenty of logical reasons for this to happen now.
Look at Saleh's win loss record. An embarrassing loss on national TV finally tipped the scales just enough to make this happen but Saleh has been digging his own grave for some time now.
