So i'm over at my friend's house watching Jeopardy when Trebeck is going through the categories, one is "Retired Jerseys." So I actually get interested because it isn't "Political Science." Or "Say it aint So". All that other bullshit. It's the Double Jeopardy round and this guy is blitzing through categories and then asks "Retired Jerseys for $400." Answer - "Joe Namath, Joe Klecko." The guys buzzes in...Pauses. Then says "What is 49." I sit there STUNNED. I know these Harvard, Yale, whatever guys are great in Government, famous books bullshit...But how can some smart freak not recognize Joe Namath? The guy next to him buzzed in and answered correctly...I turned off the show not caring what my friend said, I was amazed.
I saw that... actually he gave the answer # 49 or something like that. than the next guy buzzes in and says jets. than they ran away from the category. i wanted to hear the rest of the questions but they never got a chance to finish. i was so ticked off. these "men" didn't want to answer those questions.
That guy knew nothing about sports. He said 49 (WTF?) for the Namath and Klecko one when the answer should be a TEAM NAME. Tonight, he didn't come up with the Cardinals shortstop that was the MVP of the 2006 World Series. Then, he answered "Canada" when the question was about Steve Yzerman leading a team to two straight titles (correct answer was the Detroit Red Wings, of course).
I've often wondered if I applied 1/10 of the time I spend on sports (reading, watching, thinking) to some more worthwhile pursuit that I'd be a lot closer to retirement. That day is still about 30 years away at this point. And it better not take the Jets 30 years to win their next Super Bowl, damnit!
was that the same episode that wile e. coyote was the final jep[ardy answer and the two dudes fucked it up?
We are loyal Jeopardy watchers & tape the show so we can run thru the commericals so we have not seen the show you are refering to. However, it siunds like U have a huge chip on your shoulder for college educated people from the remarks you made in your post. If you feel that the college graduates are controlling the world what is stopping U from becoming one of them? This is just my humble observation to your post who U ar saying is silly person cause he missed a question no matter how easy it may have been to U. U do know there are many non sport fans out there so to assume everybody is one is really not right IMHO. My younger son qualifies as a totally non interested sports fan even though his father & bro are FB fans & remembering that his dad has season tix & he would not even attend the games even though he had the opportunity to do so. The contestant that you are taking unmbrage with may very likely also be a totally non sports fan
Look, in no way am I saying i'm smarter than that guy, that's inane. He's probably got like 7 or more years of college at a top Institute with a Masters and every other kind of degree. Great for him, more power to him, and he must have alot of money. In no way am I a fan of Art, it bores me and I find it "fruity" if a guy is interested in art. But when I see a picture of the Mona Lisa, I at least know it was drawn by Leonardo da Vinci. And when it comes to this guys case...A lot of non-sports fan can recognize Joe Namath being a New York Jet. Now, it may not be as easy as say "Babe Ruth," or "Magic Johnson," etc. etc. But for football, Joe Namath may be one of the most recognizable names in sports, even if you never liked sports, you've heard of Joe Namath.
More importantly, he answered with a number....he didnt even connect the fact that he had to say a team name....Geniuses with zero common sense.
EXACTLY!!! and for that champ, there is no excuse. It doesnt matter if hed rathergo to the opera like your other son there or not. Fct is hes a moron for not even understanding the syntax of the question
You are not thinking quite right here. It's not that he didn't recognise Namath's name, but Kleckos. If you didnt know who Klecko was, then you might assume that he was on a different team and had the same number as Namath. Therefore the guess of a number.
